Nice Days Ahead

5:18PM

Well here it comes. They waited for it. They complained all Winter. They said that we had the worst Spring you can remember (even though that was very far from the truth). Now, if anybody complains about the weather in the next 4 days, then there is simply no pleasing them, because it’s going to be about as nice as it gets. We’ll be in a northwest to north flow of very nice air, a warm start with a cooling trend, but still quite nice, through the weekend. The only bump in the road may be a disturbance passing south of the region early Thursday bringing some cloudiness. And it is all lead in by some cloudiness with a secondary cold front passing through the region tonight.

You don’t want to talk about next week yet, do you??? But it’s going to be so nice through the weekend and why would you want to look beyond that? Maybe because you have a vacation planned or a few days off, or you just want to know. Ok fine…

Disturbance moves through early to middle of next week. Models have slowed this feature from Monday to Tuesday, but for now I’m going to keep it more likely to be Monday, maybe into early Tuesday. This disturbance will bring a shower and thunderstorm threat, but not likely a widespread rain. Fair weather returns by the middle of next week. No heatwaves in sight…yet.

  1. Thanks TK.

Today’s weather was perfect. I think its been a very decent June and I have no weather complaints. 🙂

  2. Thanks TK, great stretch coming up 🙂

I’m starting to wonder if some of us may see rain tomorrow though, the short range models and the 18z GFS are hinting at it. Best chance would be south of the Pike and closer to the South Coast.

  3. Thanks tk. As most here know I hate the cold so the hotter the better for me as this is my time of year.

    1. Why not toss out zoning. Framingham did it years ago, if it ever had any, and look how lovely it is. Heck we have houses built on top of other houses and in some cases on top of the highways. 🙂

        1. I did. Kids made it special and I took a roast beef dinner in to have with mac on deck and rehab. What is it about me and decks. Did you have a nice celebration for your wife ?

      1. They do need another highway to alleviate the highway traffic congestion, or at least start widening them, the reason why we had the big dig is bc all the waiting and neglecting and push back from widening and revamping highways hence they had one gigantic project, let’s not wait and wait some more to have another big dig in the suburbs, good night Vicki 🙂

        1. I do understand that the road system in that area cannot support the increased population. I’d rather see incentives to work from home for many reasons. I talked to my. SIL in Atlanta and BIL in CA. They have many more lanes on their highways and still massive jams. They philosophy is build it and they will come ….but it won’t alleviate a whole lot. Thanks for bringing this to our attention Charlie and sharing your views

Now back to weather…..what an amazing night.

  4. Thanks TK! Looking forward to that stretch of nice weather. If only I was independently wealthy and didn’t have to work!

  5. Hmmm

Beautiful weather, but a bit cool imho for swimming, not that I’ll be doing any.
Other than that perfect! For swimming I need mid 80s and up. 😀

    1. my pool has a temperature of 74 degrees, pool so far relativily doing good , It started to turn a greenish white, which is when i say ok time to clorinate the living crap out of the pool to keep allergy from growing

  6. Kudos to wxwatcher for his post last evening regarding the rain chances in southernmost New England. Seeing some obs of rain in CT and the radar looks rather impressive down that way.

  7. Pretty crappy here in Newport this morning. Hope it’s out of here quick. Great catch WxWatcher.

  8. Thanks guys 🙂

Just a few sprinkles in Wrentham though, hopefully it’ll clear up later.

  9. The stronger push of very dry air is entering northern New England.

Dew points in both Burlington, VT and Portland, ME are down to 51F.

  10. Ironically, while Logan and many other locations have not hit 90F this warm season, my opinion is that June has been pleasant to even warm, even to the coastline.

Approaching the summer solstice, the first 18 days at Logan have seen ….

7 days of 80F or above, 5 days in the 70s, and 6 days in the 60s.

Without looking at past June’s data, I just feel like I’ve experienced the cool hanging tougher near the coast in past years and dont recall as many sunny, 70s and 80s days as we’ve had thus far.

If the current forecast holds the next week, then we’ll be adding a few more tallies for each of the 70s and 80s temp categories.

Perhaps a month that could average above normal tempwise without hitting 90F ???

    1. June, so far, seems pretty typical to me, perhaps even a little better
than usual. We’ve usually seen a 90 degree day or 2 by now. 😀

Ocean temperatures “appear” to be on track now and to the best of my memory are NOT anomalously cool.

      Current readings:

16 NM East of Boston: 61
      Stellwagen Bank: 59.5
      Harbor Entrance: 63.7

  11. Nice posts Tom and oldsalty it sure seems like things are turning around for the better and let’s hope it continues to do so and more.

  12. Well, whether or not the 12z GFS has the details correct, I don’t know. But, it seems like a more credible run than the 0z run, which had this deep for summer upper low in the northeast in the long range. Just didn’t seem to fit climatologically. Not there on the 12z run.

  13. Why we NEED to keep the NorthEast Wind AWAY FROM HERE!!!

Current Ocean temps off the MA coast are in the low 60s, yet not too
far to the North and East off the coast of Maine it is MUCH coooler, for example:
