  1. thanks TK – you answered my question about next Saturday here !!!

Were you a spectator or participant up in Epping? I spent a good portion of my early 20s as both but mostly as a participant. I am still a NASCAR fan but used to run my Mach I back in 69 and 70 at Epping along with a bunch of friends.

    1. That’s awesome! I started going to the quarter mile oval Star Speedway down the street from New England Dragway in 1989 and have gone back since on a fairly regular basis as a spectator. I never raced, but I wish I had. I think I’d have been pretty good at racing. I don’t fear driving and I’m fiercely competitive.

And yes so far next Saturday looks good – hoping it holds. Winchester MA has Town Day & a big fireworks display.

      1. TK I am a very cautious driver now. My kids laugh at the way I am so cautious knowing that my first car was a ’69 390 Mach I – worked on enough to get my 100 mph patch in the quarter mile -followed by a GTO and formula firebird. The last two were dogs compared to the Mach I. I also did a lot of racing on Route 2 through Arlington, Lexington and Belmont and couldn’t always beat the bigger engines in the short run but could always beat them top end. I’m sorry you didn’t get a chance. I haven’t been to the oval speedway. Do you follow NASCAR?

        1. I follow NASCAR, but not close enough that I know everything about everything. I guess I’m kind of a casual fan, but a good casual fan. My son likes it too. I was a big Richard Petty fan back in the day. I’ve always liked Dale Junior and some of the other drivers. My son is a Jimmie Johnson fan.

  2. Traveling all around this weekend, some time on the campground and other time spent with family………..quite humid today and the sun seems to be peeking out more the last hour…….interesting 0z GFS run today with respect to the Gulf of Mexico, it seems to hint at a tropical system moving out of the Caribbean right into the Gulf. I know this will change, if not disappear, but I find it interesting that its showing a system for what would be early June. Hope everyone is having an enjoyable weekend.

  3. I have decided to have my BBQ today instead of tomorrow (Memorial Day) since thunderstorms could pop up at any time and I have been noticing different forecasts ranging from first thing tomorrow morning to noontime to late afternoon. Today is going to be the best with no threat of storms whatsoever and temps just right.

I still believe that this summer is going to be fantastic for everyone with very few complaints…with maybe a Bruins Stanley Cup as well?? 🙂

Have a safe, enjoyable Memorial Day everyone! 🙂

  4. My husband just said the red sox detroit game is in question because of a tornado warning in detroit. Haven’t checked out the radar yet.

      1. Thanks Philip – if I’m correct it will be the early morning storms that wisely made you change your BBQ to today and we will rethink our parade plans. I hope your BBQ was fun – it was a perfect day for it !!!!

  5. Great weekend so far and I think any cookouts tomorrow should be fine. There is a chance for some storms to fire but I think should they fire the activity will be on the MINOR side meaning storms will remain below severe levels.
Wednesday could be a different story as I think there could be some Moderate Level Activity with some isolated severe storms and if everything comes together we could be boardline a 3 which is SEVERE Level Activity. Plenty of time to watch that situation.
