Monday Forecast Update

7:37AM

DAYS 1-5…
A chilly and damp Monday ahead of a warm front which takes its sweet time to get through southeastern New England as a weak wave of low pressure forms on it. Finally get into the warmer air Tuesday but with lots of clouds and a risk of a shower or thunderstorm. Dry air arrives Wednesday courtesy an area of high pressure, lasting through most of Thursday before clouds arrive ahead of the next disturbance. This system will bring a chance of showers Thursday night and early Friday before improvement comes later Friday.
TODAY: Cloudy. Widespread rain through mid morning. Occasional rain late morning. Scattered showers and patchy drizzle afternoon. Highs in the 60s. Wind E to SE 5-15 MPH.
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Areas of fog. Patchy drizzle. Chance of a a shower. Lows 55-60. Wind SE to S up to 10 MPH.
TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm mainly mid afternoon on. Highs in the 70s. Wind S to SW 5-15 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows in the 50s. Highs 75-80.
THURSDAY: Increasing clouds. Showers late. Lows 55-60. Highs in the 70s.
FRIDAY: Partly sunny. Showers early. Lows 60-65. Highs in the 70s.

DAYS 6-10 (JUNE 20-24)…
Weekend may end up split with a dry Saturday and showery Sunday depending on a disturbance passing by and potential moisture from the tropics. I don’t expect much of that moisture to make it this far north but something to watch. Another trough from the west may bring more showers and cooler weather late in the period.

DAYS 11-15 (JUNE 25-29)…
Look for temperatures near to above normal, coolest along the coast. Rainfall near to below normal.

  1. Thank you TK.

Yucky morning, but we need the rain. Better to fall on Monday than Sunday. 😀

  2. Thank you TK!

.28 here and it’s been a steady light/moderate rain here for a couple of hours how. I agree with MassBay….this rain really is beautiful.

  3. Thanks, TK. Vicki is right: This is beneficial rain. Looks like more to come this week. Not a true drought-buster, but the water will help stabilize the situation.

By the way, Block Island is a beautiful place. Less gentrified and less opulent than I expected. I like it that way, as it reminds me of Cape and the Islands in the 1970s. I biked on Block Island all day Saturday; about 25 miles. Weather was perfect for biking, thanks to TK’s forecast. If I had listened to anyone else’s forecast I might have canceled the event.

  4. Looks like rain is just about ready
To quit in Boston. Has lightened considerably
    And not many echos upstream.

  5. Same here just a little drizzle. Anything is better than nothing at this point. Weekend was a beauty.

  6. The southeast US is beginning to bake.

    Wilmington, NC : 11am ob : 93F, dewpoint 72F.

    Good luck with that.

    1. Further north, even all the way to NJ, every reporting station’s dewpoint is between 70F and 74F. Its just not as hot.

Perhaps we lucked out this time having the heat and humidity cut off at the pass, while at the same time generating some lift, resulting in rain.

      1. That btw seems to be pretty much right on the money along the pike and into boston and down along south shore. South of the pike seems to have received more but who counts them 😉

      1. Yes thanks Ace. If that verifies the heaviest would stay just south of the state of MA. I have outdoor plans for Sunday anyway and I imagine others as well being Father’s Day.

  7. According to JR, Logan has 0.29″ so far. I suspect the final total later today will not be much more than that.

    1. TK’s 0.30 inch sounds like pretty much on target? No? 😀

It had better NOT rain on Sunday, else I’ll be pissed!
You don’t want me to be pissed!

  8. Forgetcello is staring tonight, weather permitting and it “should” be ok.
    That should be another JOKE!

    1. The entire team is a JOKE right now and is a crying shame given all the $$$$$$$$$ spent during the off season. On paper they should be well into first place but instead it looks like….WAIT UNTIL NEXT YEAR! 🙁

      1. I am with you. AND the Manager is a JOKE and 1/2!!
I can’t stand him! Can’t Can’t Can’t stand him. He has to go!
I don’t care if we get Joey the ball boy, he’d do a better job
        than this moron.

Ramirez was the WORST WORST WORST signing in History.
I believe he is a cancer and could be the SINGLE reason for
the Sox Demise this year. This ownership group can’t make a correct decision IF their lives depended on it.

This ownership is a JOKE. It starts at the Top as they say!!!

  9. .49 occasional drizzle at this point

The weekend at this point is looking wet, especially Sunday :/

  10. Yo!
    Here’s the deal…

Drizzle drizzle drizzle. Drizzle is hanging on longer than I thought. I guess the amounts were generally in the ballpark. I never expected the big stuff, but it was a little heavier to the SW of the city. Should have noted that. Does it dry out enough for the Sox to play? Not that it much matters. Maybe if nobody is paying attention they’ll win a game. My wife is being taken there tonight by her work along with her coworkers. Not the best evening for baseball even if they do get the game in.

Another Tuesday, another storm threat, and I use that term loosely. Don’t expect all that much around these parts in terms of t-storms tomorrow. I’ll keep an eye on it…in case.

Splendid Wednesday and I’m going to adjust timing a bit to keep Thursday drier longer and Friday morning wetter.

Weekend? No problems Saturday. Scattered showers/t-storms Sunday. NO rainy day.

    1. Well of course Thursday will be perfect……….silly man, you.

And of course your amounts were in the ballpark.

      😆

    2. Thanks for the quick update. Keep working on Sunday.

I can deal with a chance of a shower or T-storm. Please keep the rainy
      day away. Thanks. 😀

Good luck to Mrs. TK tonight. Miserable night to watch a Miserable team!
Perhaps they’ll invoke the mercy rule and cancel tonight’s game???

      1. Believe it or not, Red Sox have a winning record (4-2) vs. NL teams so far, but that ocurred back in April before they went into their current funk.

  11. Thanks TK. Would have been a great day to do nothing but watch movies all day. Oh well, a girl can dream. 🙂

    1. I would absolutely love that.

I officially collect SS in three days but I am going to continue to work so am I retired or am I not? I guess I am not cause I cannot take a day to watch movies. Well fooey?

  12. We get rid of the confluent flow that has been persistent near eastern New England for several weeks for the first couple days of June and again today and what happens? Rain.

That confluent flow is the culprit.

  13. From Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan
Its been a quiet severe weather season here so far thankfully but I think things pick up quiet a bit in the long term worth watching.
    TK what are your thoughts?

    1. Possible SW low amplitude trough and flat ridge in the East. Generally a good set-up for severe weather. And some of the moisture from the tropical system may prime the atmosphere. So we shall see…

I think we may have to watch for MCS type systems in the Great Lakes, Midwest, and Northeast as we get into Summer.

  14. 0.50″ on the nose here in Wrentham. Just the kind of rain we needed, steady and soaking. Could use plenty more though.

  15. I think there were more people at the Free Tom Brady rally than there are at Fenway tonight…

  16. Still light drizzle. It was a nice steady rain through midday and since then its been just light stuff. OS I agree the Sox are god awful right now, but I actually blame the players first, then management and lastly the manager. Ben Cherrington should be canned at the end of the season. Apart from the Rodriguez deal he’s done nothing right.

Ramirez and Sandoval are two terrible contracts. I said that when we signed them as well. Way too much money. But I don’t put it all on the manager. The players are just not performing to what they have done historically. Don’t get me wrong Farrell has done a terrible job as well but he didn’t sign these guys. At some point the players have to start fighting to stay in the season. Time is just about done.

  17. Providence and Hartford broke daily records today. PVD came in with 1.18 and BDL came in with 1.94.
