  1. I noticed it complete dark last night at 8:30, when 2 months ago it would be light. It’s changing.

  2. Did anyone see any meteors last night? Dog woke me up around 3am and figured i would take a look outside. Damn streetlight was right in my view of the northeast sky. I looked for about 15 mins but saw nothing.

      1. I saw about 10 in 30 minute period around 12:00-12:30. Most were of short duration (unlike the Leonids back about 15 years ago). Their also seemed be a thin wisp of high clouds to the NE that may have hurt viewing a little. Woke up around 3:45 and saw a few intense (but still short) bursts.

  3. Thanks, TK.

Another beautiful day today. I, too am noticing the daylight shortening. The sun used to be up and bright around 6:15 and ‘though it’s light out the sun isn’t completely out. To me, this summer seemed to go by fast. I know, it’s still August and we can get some hot days in September but the sun’s angle seems to make a difference.

    1. Yes, we are transitioning to Autumn. It doesn’t matter that technically
it’s Summer. In “normal” years, it gets noticeably cooler starting around
now ( I always used 8/10), give or take a bit, however, this year looks to be an anomaly. We shall see.

  4. Excellent conditions for Perseid viewing 11PM-1AM and again after 3AM with some clouds for a time in between for my area. Saw quite a few. At one point saw 3 in under 30 seconds. Saw a few non-Perseids as well!

    1. Yes he is. Not as bad as Chris Chase from USA who was on WEEI this am. By the time they finished with him, I was in hysterics.

    1. I can’t believe NESN put out a story that includes the words “if you believe the tabloids”. Wow. Even if it ends up being true. Wow. A new low. 🙂

      1. Who watches nesn? Lol owned by baseball guys, enough said, they better start showing more football, or else there be behind the times, agree tk

  5. Wow!!! I’ve never seen so many signs, and Brady jerseys, talk about circling the wagon. #patriotnation 🙂

  6. Tweet from Tom Brady:

“Good to be HOME! Helmet is on… I’ll see you tonight Gillette Stadium!!!”

      1. I hope he is on the field first. I would have been appalled and greatly surprised had he not taken the field at all tonight. As much as he has earned the support of his fans, the fans need to see him there also.

  7. Speed the upcoming system up a little. Weak warm front late Friday / Friday night with some cloudiness, maybe a shower somewhere especially north but probably nothing much. Saturday, variable cloudiness as the front pushes through during the first half of the day. We probably have middle cloudiness and mid-level generated showers passing through during the first half to two thirds of the day, and only a slight risk of a shower or t-storm on a secondary trough coming along later in the day but coverage would be low. So a minor hiccup Saturday, otherwise a fabulous Summer weekend coming up.

    1. Thank you TK. One of kids/family has to travel Humarock to Framingham late am Sat. Lots of stuff in an open bed truck. Are you seeing a shower risk then?

  8. Brady WILL PLAY!!! 😀

It will be interesting as to how many reps he gets tonight. I suspect though that Garoppolo will get the most.

  9. NWS says GODZILLA EL NINO developing in the Pacific and could bring very beneficial rains to California during the 2015-16 upcoming winter and much drier than normal for the northern tier (including NE).

Also, Barry says that next summer could be VERY HOT around here!! UGH!!!

Do you agree with all of the above TK?

    1. Yes on all counts. Actually mentioned these potentials a while back with El Nino in mind.

I’m not sure we reach the magnitude of 1997, but it may exceed 1982. My early analog is 1982-1983 for Autumn / Winter / Spring / Summer in some but not all aspects. The main points of focus would be a hot ending to this Summer (remainder of August and September), a mild and generally dry Autumn, a mild and generally dry Winter but with a few very cold shots of brief duration, and one or 2 major snowstorms, but snow below normal, a variable Spring and a blazing hot/dry Summer 2016.

  10. Agree with you, TK, on NESN reaching a new low. NESN should be about sports, not about tabloids or personal issues that may or may not be accurately reported.

I will say this: Tom Brady displayed poor judgment on his trip to Vegas with Affleck and the infamous nanny. Certainly not sinful on Brady’s part, but poor judgment. If in March you’re going to destroy your cellphone for fear that private matters may be disclosed, then why in June would you let a young woman who you barely know borrow your 4 rings and take pictures of herself? You know that’s going to be revealed to the world in this day and age. Also raises the question: why the heck does Tom carry around his rings?

On a weather-related topic, I’ve noticed fewer mosquitoes this year than in any year I’ve lived in Boston and vicinity. Do others concur with this observation? Or is it just me? No cases of West-Nile in humans this year, and that’s unusual this late in the season. Also no cases of EEE.

    1. I agree re: Mosquitos. I wasn’t bitten once on the golf course this season and that place is usually a cesspool for them. Didn’t ever need to put on bug spray. Been doing a lot of yardwork at dust and haven’t been bitten either.

    2. Agree with mosquitoes also. No idea of story behind Brady so can’t get worked up as is between Brady and whomever.

      And wow gray

      1. I’m not worked up either, Vicki. And, I’ve seen Brady with his children in the Esplanade Park (when he lived in Boston) early in the morning. He adores his kids and seems like a good father. I’m just not someone who reveres the man. He has lapses in judgment – as we all do – and this `incident’ on Affleck’s plane was one of them, in my humble opinion.

        1. Very well could have been. And I def did not mean to imply you we’re worked up. Sorry about that. Just I was not worked up 🙂 . He sure is a great dad. See how I can have my own lapse in judgement 🙁

    3. The 1st “crop” of skeeters were non-existent. The second wave came a little early but is not overwhelming.

  11. The layering of cumulus clouds in Boston between 5:30pm and 6:45pm was really interesting. I did not have my camera with me, which is too bad (and my cellphone is vintage 2001, hence no camera). What I mean by layering is that you had all types of cumulus clouds from the dark, threatening kind to the white and fluffy ones layered like a large sandwich in the sky. I don’t know what produced this phenomenon, but it was a sight to behold.

  12. This preseason game is very good, but can totally tell its preseason, not to rub it in, but this game has better ratings than any sports game around here this year, and america, it was a prime time game

    1. Eh. No surprise. When you have someone being scrutinized the way TB is, a video of him clipping his toe nails would top the ratings.
