Thursday Forecast

7:22AM

DAYS 1-5 (NOVEMBER 12-16)…
A damp November chill will be evident today as we hold onto an overcast and then see more wet weather later in the day and this evening as another low pressure system impacts the region. Unlike its predecessor, this low will track north of southern New England and pull a warm front through today followed by a cold front later tonight. Behind this initial cold front the air will not actually be that cold, so Friday will end up being on the milder side, though a gusty wind will make it feel a little cooler than it is as it will turn out dry during the day. A second cold front from the northwest will bring a risk of rain showers in the evening just before colder air rushes in with its passage. This will set up a chilly and windy day Saturday with just an outside risk of a sprinkle of rain or light flurry of snow from passing clouds. Sunday ends up sunnier and less windy as high pressure builds more overhead. This bright weather will continue Monday but along with the start of a warming trend.
TODAY: Cloudy. Areas of light fog this morning. Rain showers arriving west to east this afternoon. Highs 48-55. Wind light variable mainly NE in the morning, S 5-15 MPH in the afternoon.
THURSDAY NIGHT: Cloudy with rain showers evening, ending west to east with breaking clouds overnight. Lows in the 40s. Wind S 10-20 MPH shifting to W with some higher gusts.
FRIDAY: Sunshine and passing clouds. Highs 55-62. Wind W 15-25 MPH
FRIDAY NIGHT: Lots of clouds evening with a passing rain shower. Lows in the 30s. Wind W 10-20 MPH with higher gusts, shifting to NW.
SATURDAY: Partly cloudy. Isolated rain/snow showers possible. Gusty wind. Highs 45-52.
SUNDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows 26-33. Highs 45-52.
MONDAY: Sunny. Lows 20s interior, lower 30s coast and urban areas. Highs in the 50s.

DAYS 6-10 (NOVEMBER 17-21)…
A stretch of mainly dry weather with temperatures rebounding to above to much above normal as high pressure dominates. Perhaps a risk of rain showers by late November 20 to early November 21 depending on the timing of a front.

DAYS 11-15 (NOVEMBER 22-26)…
The overall pattern continues mild but temperatures during this period will likely be more variable due to some passing systems in the northern jet stream as the high pressure ridges weakens and allows a couple of fast-moving troughs to come through the northeastern US. Any precipitation events should be brief.

  1. Thanks TK

I agree JP weather is not important on a day like today.
Vicki my heart aches and I am praying for all of you.

  2. From meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan
El Nino = El Torcho. Don’t buy the hype from the snow trolls… winter is going to start out quite mild.

  3. I do want things to carry on here but I love that you are all such an amazing comfort. I think Mother Nature is feeling gloomy today also. Tomorrow, she will smile and I know we will too because there are so many memories to smile about.

  4. Thanks tk 🙂

I heard from a nationally news, I think it was the today show, they were talking about how the east may not see snow until after the new year.

    Hope your doing ok Vicki

    1. Mid 60’s next week!! Keep winter as short as possible, we do not like days like the last 2, it’s to dark, dreary, and cool for my liking. Much rather 60 and sunny. 🙂

      1. i rather it be in the 80s and sun or cold and snowy. one of the two. none of this in between stuff. my allergies are terrible because of it.

  5. Vicki I am sorry for your loss and holding good thoughts for you and your family.
My family going through a similar situation as my Uncle lost his battle to acute myeloid leukemia on Tuesday. With the rain drops that have been falling today and yesterday I feel that his him crying from heaven that he is no longer with us.

    1. Oh JimmyJames. I am so sorry. My heart aches for you and I agree…the heavens are crying for us but for those there, I believe the party is grand. I’m sending hugs and lots of love to you and your family.

  6. Vicki and Jimmy,

I am very sorry to hear of your losses.

My Dad passed away one week ago, just 13 days shy of his 98th birthday. Even though it was not a surprise, it still hurts.

    1. Stephen….there are no words. And no matter the age of your loved ones, it just does not get easier. Hugs and love to you as well.

    2. I am sorry about your loss. I lost my mother 2 yrs. ago and my father in 2000. And it still hurts – even now.

  7. Condolences for you Stephen and you JJ for your losses. May good memories serve as some comfort.

  8. We are experiencing yet another rain fail as this system will also not do a whole lot of delivering. The drought goes on and will really worsen in the next 15 days and beyond.

Are the doubters still out there? 😉

  9. JJ and Stephen, I am sorry to hear about your losses. It’s been a difficult month.

I know the show must go on so to speak, but weather is rather trifling in times like these.

    1. I’m not understanding +36 dam(n) height anomalies. Are you referring to isotherms in the upper atmosphere at certain levels?

    1. Possibly. I have to look at the daily records. We will have the upper air but we may have a problem with the placement of surface high pressure for records.

      1. Even if we don’t have “record” temps, at least continued above normal temps a sure bet for the rest of the month…correct?

        1. Pretty much. And seeing strong signs of the same pattern in December and probably at least part of if not all of January.

  10. Tom Sue TK Charlie and Philip thank you for your kind words.
I am giving the eulogy at my Uncle’s funeral mass tomorrow. This is the first time I have ever given one.

  11. Good luck, JJ, I’m sure you will do well with your eulogy.

Vicki, I hope you are holding up well. Your resilient spirit is something Mac must have enjoyed being around. And now he can see that same spirit from high above us all.
