    1. Congrats on the new baby Tj!! Yes, what a blessing 🙂 We are expecting our first in February

  1. Thanks TK. Central Italy rocked again last night, this time 6.6, most powerful quake in over 30 years to hit the country. Felt across the entire peninsula. It was same area hit by the one a few months ago. My father in-law ran out of the house and slept the rest of the night in his car.

  2. Thank you TK. A special thanks for the evening forecast for tomorrow. I passed it along to the kids who will plan for a jacket under costumes.

  3. Thanks TK!

TK – As to what you learned at the conference yesterday, is it fairly likely that we will have another winter of below normal snowfall?

Considering we were in an El Niño winter last time, snowfall wasn’t all that far from normal, all things considered.

    Winter 2015-16: 36.1″
    Normal: 43.8″

    1. The vast majority of the time we’ve had this set up, snow ends up below normal in southern New England and higher to the north.

  4. Good morning, y’all

Five years ago today (and it was a Sunday), we were all waking up to a light/moderate/heavy snowfall with hurricane-force winds. Many power outages and no school for a couple of days that week.

Four years ago, it was the aftermath of Sandy.

And this is the 25th anniversary (1991) of the “Perfect Storm”.

Nothing at all like that this morning. Beautiful All Hallow’s Eve eve.

And, on a much lighter note, Go Pats!

    Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone!

    1. Thanks capt. Mother natures tricks. Didn’t some other storm in there somewhere. I seem to recall three halloweens without power. I hope you have a wonderful Sunday as well

      1. For two straight years in 2011 2012 Halloween was cancelled in my town due to the October Noreaster in 2011 and Sandy 2012.

  5. Thanks TK. Congratulations Tj!!

Looks like today’s rain will be mostly confined to far southern New England and especially the NYC area, where upwards of half an inch of rain is possible. No more than a quarter inch in Boston and it’ll probably be less than that.

  6. Thanks TK.
Congrats TJ on the new baby
I do remember five years ago digging out from a foot of heavy wet snow and having no power for a couple days. Unbelievable storm that produced that amount of snow for the time of year it happened.

  7. Thank you, TK.

Congratulations Tj! And Ace, good luck to you and your wife during the latter half of her pregnancy.

Back in Boston after a brief trip to Vermont. As I said yesterday what a difference 2 hours plus of driving makes in terms of weather. Upper 30s this morning on my very hilly and pitch-black 4 mile jog. In the low 40s and overcast (raw) as I headed south. And upon getting out of my car in Boston it felt warm, especially with the sun shining.

  8. Heading to Woburn’s Halloween Parade. Huge event for the city. The parade takes 1 1/2 to 2 hours to pass any point. My son is in the Woburn High School band and this is his final trip down Main Street in that capacity. Nice weather for this.

    1. Very nice. So far weather awesome here. Son took his son to the where rhe wild things are event in Leominster…..I think that is where it is. Lots of fun things

  9. AccuWeather Trivia Quiz.

The temperature at the coldest World Series on record was …

    A. 48 degrees
    B. 38 degrees
    C. 28 degrees
    D. 18 degrees

    Answer later today.

      1. I’ll guess C, too.

While I’m at it my prediction for winter snow total in `Boston’ (Logan): 32.1 inches.

  10. Answer to today’s AccuWeather Trivia Quiz.

The temperature at the coldest World Series on record was …

    A. 48 degrees
    B. 38 degrees
    C. 28 degrees
    D. 18 degrees

The answer is B … October 22, 1997 World Series Game 4 in Cleveland.

    1. Thanks Longshot

This is what happens when I uncharacteristically decide to go with the crowd 😉

Does JJ get points for knowing it was Cleveland.

      1. I actually almost considered D but then I remembered that up until fairly recently, the series lasted only until just after Columbus Day. With the series nowadays into November with a potential games 6 and 7, a new low temperature record could very well be established someday in the not too distant future.

  11. Oddly and for those of you with pets, we have had four hard freezes and I still found a deer tick on me today. It was just crawling which is good but I’d only been on grass for a maximum of 5 minutes

  12. The “War of the Worlds” radio broadcast with Orson Welles was 78 years ago this evening at 8:00 pm. I assume no one here at WHW was alive for this scary Halloween broadcast. 😉

    1. Thank you. I never would have known that. I remember my parents telling me about it. But if my memory serves it was more of a media hype than anything. It was Welles wasn’t it??

  13. Good evening. Just checking in. Been a busy day.

Nice game today, but the pats BETTER learn how to protect Brady before
he gets injured. Seriously, the O line couldn’t protect Brady against a bunch
of grand mothers. Gimmie a break. Just shows how great Brady is. He’s the best
    there ever was!

0.12 inch from this evening’s rain so far. 😀

    1. Not to mention Gostkowski. I can understand being shaky on the 50-something field goal, but no excuse being shaky on extra points. I just hope he doesn’t cost us a big game down the road and a playoff game itself would be a disaster.

  14. Congrats TJ ! Best wishes to you and your wife AceMaster !

Spring this morning, autumn this evening.

Looking forward to the mid week warmth and it’s unbelievable how warm the south central and southeast US is.

  15. First fall in 8 years that I did not march in a marching band. It felt extremly strange. today I went to the Marching Band Nesba Finals to watch the two bands I was part of. Billerica memorial High school which by the way my youngest brother is part of for one more season. Today they killed it and got a 97 platinum medal 6 full points ahead of all the other competition in the division. They have won or tied for first for the past 3 years.. Billerica has won the championships 6 of the past 9 years. I also saw the college band that I use to play for four years which in now my other younger brother plays for , UML. It really did feel strange not doing it under those stadium lights. I really wish there was some how to have professional marching bands after college like football. This was a typical scenerio. great weather for the first half of the show, then crappy for the college bands lol

    1. I am sure it seemed as if there were a hole in your life. I know how important marching band has been. Im glad you had the experience and have now passed the baton (maybe literally) to your brothers.

      1. marching band taught discipline, time management, being part of something bigger than yourself, true leadership. Multitasking to the max. Getting out of your comfort zone ( mine was playing solo’s) Band director would not allow me to back out and knew exactly when I was faking to screw up lol) Band director she was sometimes a hard *** at times and would yell but i knew she just wanted us to sucessed. She treated us like we were her own children though and would defend us if we did not give her a reason not to trust us. Being part of a team and more important a secondary family who will stand by you what ever the situation. You might have a bad day one time but then have the best day the next. Point is I learned alot from Marching Band, and believe any child who does Marching band gets alot out of it and can be really sucessful even more so than sports. My reasoning every single person in the Band in high school and college, get A’s and B’s and were part of the higher end classes.
