  1. Emily is now forecasted to be become a hurricane, located off the south east coast Monday at 2:00am. Does she have a shot of making it to New England?

    1. No, the flow should be out of the NW at the time it would make its closest pass, and should push it well out to sea. I don’t think there is even a remote chance.

  2. I agree with haterain………..it is interesting that on the NHC’s visible satellite loop of Emily, the low level circulation is now exposed from the main convection. I think there can be significance to this, in that, I think weaker tropical systems track more westerly than expected, while stronger storms tend to turn more towards the right or north. So, it wouldnt surprise me that if Emily stays disorganized, its predicted track may shift a bit to the west.

  3. What a perfect day – happy birthday, Rainshine! I hope you are enjoying the interesting cloud cover !

  4. Happy Birthday Rainshine!!! It is a great summer day out there.
As for Emily not looking to healthy right now. If it goes over the mountainous terrain of Hispaniola that may be the end of it. If it does not and remerges in the Bahammas it looks to be taking that curve to the right out to sea. With that said folks from the Carolina’s south to Florida should monitor this.

  5. The latest thoughts from the HPC is for Emily to eventually become a hurricane, but should be well to the east of the NC coast and well to the west of Bermuda (in other words, right in between the U.S. and Bermuda). As Jimmy mentioned everyone from the Carolinas to Florida should monitor carefully as probably everyone along the east coast to some extent, for high seas if nothing else.

        1. Yes Vicki, in fact Emily should curve well east even before she reaches the NC coast and no threat to Bermuda either at this time. She still should be watched, of course. 🙂

  6. Thanks to all who wished me a happy birthday! 🙂 🙂

It’s been a great day and I didn’t mind that the sun wasn’t out all the time – made for an interesting and decorative sky!

    1. Rain shine I thought it was your kind of sky. Where did you end up for dinner. We love the villa. Good food and good prices. And they are always sending 20% off coupons. We also eat at the wayside inn a lot. They have a menu consisting of salad and entree and dessert for about $20 with some great entree selections. We will try JJ mckays.

  7. I am happy the model trends continue to turn Emily away from the East Coast as I will be vacationing down in the Mid Atlantic next week.

  8. Jimmy, let us know if you get to see any big waves while on your vacation. Emily will be well offshore but should be a hurricane by then. It will be interesting as to how strong but probably no more than a Cat. 2. Frankly I am somewhat surprised that Emily will even become a hurricane at all by the time she reaches the SE coast, but I guess that Gulf Stream is still quite warm.

  9. Any thoughts about next weeks weather, have the week off but only staying in the area and doing day trips. NWS doesn’t seen to be optimistic. Thanks
