Friday Forecast

7:38AM

DAYS 1-5 (APRIL 19-23)
Southern New England will sit between departing low pressure to the east and approaching high pressure from the west today, with some cold air aloft, and this will result in a gusty breeze and a cloud/sun mix with a couple showers possibly popping up due to marginal instability. After that, it’s dry weather as high pressure gains more control through the weekend and Monday, and at least into Tuesday. The next low pressure system will approach from the southwest late Tuesday and I’m currently favoring a faster timing for its arrival, meaning that wet weather is possible before Tuesday is done. Forecast details…
TODAY: Sun/cloud mix. A passing rain shower possible. Highs 44-50. Wind N 10-20 MPH.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 32-38. Wind N 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.
SATURDAY: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy. Highs 48-54. Wind N 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 30-37. Wind N 5-15 MPH.
SUNDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 50-57. Wind N 5-15 MPH.
MONDAY: Sunny. Lows from the upper 30s to lower 40s. Highs from the middle 50s to lower 60s but turning cooler in coastal areas.
TUESDAY: Increasing clouds. Chance of rain late. Lows from middle to upper 40s. Highs in the 60s except 50s immediate coast.

DAYS 6-10 (APRIL 25-29)
A complex low pressure system will bring periods of rain April 25 to early April 27 followed by drier weather for April 28-29 weekend. Temperatures fairly close to normal.

DAYS 11-15 (APRIL 30-MAY 4)
A little uncertainty on the pattern at this point. Leaning toward a couple frontal passages with rain shower threats. Temperatures warmer early then trending cooler.

  1. Thanks TK. A few snowflakes drifting by the windows here in Plymouth, NH this morning.

Heading into several days of calm weather and warmer temperatures, though no major anomalous warmth. The last 5 days of April look pretty unsettled to me as of right now, but there could be some room for a more progressive evolution that limits the rain threat to just a couple days next week. And I agree with low confidence on days 11-15. Some indications that we could have a warm stretch in that period, but not really sure about it. Could also be a pattern that invites another backdoor front.

  2. Good morning and thank you TK.

Looks like a bit of a better stretch of weather, at the very least not miserable even if not
    really warm.

    What about those Sox, eh?

Sox (16-2) off to MLB’s best start since 1987!!!

    1. The Sox look dominant. It’s April, but remember the Detroit Tigers in 1984. They started out something like 35-6 and never looked back, won the World Series. That’s how dominant the Sox look right now. On top of that we’ve got the Bruins up 3-1 in their series, Celtics up 2-0. And yet all I hear on sports radio is the freaking soap opera surrounding the Patriots. I’m so tired of this. It’s like fans take for granted that ALL of our teams are contenders, and so they’re talking about personal sideshows regarding the one team that’s not playing and won’t for another 4 months.

      1. 35-5, the Tigers 1984. They had a fabulous manager to go with great talent.
Let’s see if Joey Cora is a Sparky Anderson.

Great to see the boys playing so well.

Pssst….. turn off the radio ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Thank you, TK.

Another refreshing morning. I guess one positive from all this relatively cold weather is that I get to air out my place every day. Airing it out in summer is next to useless. Only makes this worse.

    1. Quite funny.
And aside of situations where people suffer health issues that are weather-related, I cannot understand why society seems so traumatized by weather that is really part of the normal. Yes it may not be “average” for a particular month, but we’ve talked about that. The weather is hardly ever “average” as we know where those averages come from. I’ve been having fun reminding folks that tell me that this April is like 4F colder than normal that “last April was like 4F warmer than normal”. Funny how that works.

      1. We’ll at least we understand it. ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

Anyone who has any knowledge of statistic whatsoever
COMPLETELY understands this. In fact, anyone with 1/2 a brain “should” understand it. It’s a pretty basic concept.

          1. I made sure my 9 year old grand understood average. And told her about 4 degrees above last year and 4 below this year. I asked what she thought it meant. She said it meant it wasnโ€™t a big difference. But being my logical grand, she said to her it meant the weather is fine. But to people who are bothered by cold would think it feels like just more cold after winter cold so four degrees doesnโ€™t make them feel better.

May toss everything I have said in the trash but Iโ€™ll take solace in the fact that she got a good deal of her logic from me ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. The camera obviously couldn’t see the crossed fingers behind his back (yes I saw it too). ๐Ÿ˜‰

    2. I don’t understand how that’s possible. Doesn’t the sun have to shine for more than 5 minutes out of every 60 to even have a chance at 45, forget higher?
