Summery Start, Fallish End to Week

5:17PM

High pressure will build offshore through Wednesday, sending warm, more humid air into New England. 1. TK…Barry on his evening blog is hinting at possible rain one week from today from an ocean storm that could wobble back towards us. Do you have any early thoughts at this time?

    1. I know I’m not TK, sorry Brian! 🙂
This possible solution just showed up on today’s 12z EURO for Tuesday-Wednesday time frame, and perhaps a brief warm up following that before fall slams the door and locks it.

        1. Do u have special plans that weekend Tom?! I’ll hope for good weather. Can’t wait for fall!!! I have axfeeling my son and friends will meet it head on in Crawford notch this weekend

          1. Hi Vicki.

One more camping weekend. We can camp in cool or warm, but with a lake on the campground and the ocean nearby, I’d love to get more beach weather.

    2. As Scott says, the Euro is showing it, a bit after. Barry was reacting to a couple runs of the GFS that brought a low pressure area NNW into the region from offshore around September 19.

  2. Anyone watching the pats? I thought 8:30 and was happy to hear 7:30. Go PATS!!!! Just another sign of fall 🙂

    1. More of a fall pattern, highs generally in the 60s with lows in the 40s in most suburbs, low 50s for Boston. I’ll update after I see future model runs in the coming days.

      1. As I always say, “fwiw” the CPC actually shows well above normal temps after the 19th. We will see what happens, of course.

        1. We will certainly have above average days leading up to the 19th, does not mean everyday will be above average.
Yesterdays and today’s 12z GFS was hinting at NAO tanking and developing a strong trough over New England in the long range.
It’ll be interesting to see what the long range GFS shoes a week from now.

  3. In what looks like a clear sky, it is still quite dark at 6am. I noticed last night how low in the sky the sun was at 6pm. It really should be interesting to see some of the overnight lows Fri. Morning thru Sun. Morning…….

Maybe some towns get towards 86F or 87F today? Starting off from a pretty mild morning. Have a good day all !

    1. Thursday afternoon I hope? Son and husband are heading west to the Ranch golf course (I think in Southwick). Do you expect rain in the morning in that area TK? If so, they will simply postpone.

  4. Tropics have quieted down in the Atlantic with only one named storm compared to three storms last week.
I have a feeling this will not be the last gasp of summer and after a nice fall preview were going to warm up for what I feel will be the last gasp of summer.

  5. My computer is totally broken. 🙁 The motherboard is toast. I am on my husband’s laptop – wonder if this will post.

Beautiful day today – enjoying the summerlike temps. before the cooler weather sets in. But I am looking forward to that.

    1. Darn – computers are a short of love/hate type of thing. I hope your problems get worked out. I suspect Old Salty may be having the same problem. He hasn’t been here and I seem to remember he was also having computer problems.

  6. Hi Vicki,

Been extremely busy at work. Haven’t had much time to drop in.
    Also, not much happening.

My computer is working, but I can’t figure out why it won’t connect to the internet.
I can ping any website, but I can’t connect with Explorer or Firefox. I’ve done much research, to no avail. Tried a bunch of potential fixes. Nothing works. Looks like I have to REINSTALL Windows. What a pain.

We’ll be talking about SNOW soon enough.

    What a beautiful day.

    Enjoy!

    1. Hi Old Salty – busy at work is a good thing now-a-days but we do miss you. I seem to remember going through the same thing and it had something to do with my Verizon router. I’m darned if I can remember that far back to what the fix was. Reinstalling windows is nasty even if you have a complete backup of files and programs, etc.
