Saturday July 9 2022 Forecast (8:53AM)

DAYS 1-5 (JULY 9-13)

This weekend will feature fair, dry, comfortable weather as high pressure dominates. The high will slide offshore Monday sending warmer air our way, but humidity will stay down that day. It is Tuesday and into Wednesday when we will get a more traditional summer feel with warmth and higher humidity, but also an increase in the chance for showers and thunderstorms. This takes place later Tuesday into Wednesday as a cold front approaches the region. The timing / speed of this front will determine the details when we get to those days – something to sort out going forward.

TODAY: Sun and passing clouds. Highs 76-83, coolest coast. Dew point 50s. Wind NW-NE 5-15 MPH.

TONIGHT: Clear. Lows 53-60. Dew point near 50. Wind NE under 10 MPH.

SUNDAY: Sunny. Highs 77-84, coolest coast. Dew point 50s. Wind E up to 10 MPH.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Clear. Lows 54-61. Dew point near 50. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.

MONDAY: Sunny. Highs 80-87, coolest South Coast. Dew point rising through 50s. Wind S-SW 5-15 MPH, higher gusts possible.

MONDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 61-68. Dew point nearing 60. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

TUESDAY: Partly cloudy. A late day shower or thunderstorm is possible. Highs 85-92. Dew point rising through 60s. Wind SW 10-20 MPH.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Variably cloudy. Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Areas of fog. Lows 63-70. Dew point 60s. Wind SW to variable 5-15 MPH.

WEDNESDAY: Variably cloudy with a chance of showers and possible thunderstorms morning. Partly cloudy afternoon. Highs 81-88. Dew point 60s. Wind variable to W 5-15 MPH.

DAYS 6-10 (JULY 14-18)

High pressure brings more dry weather July 14-16. Increased moisture later in the period presents a better chance of shower and thunderstorm activity, but we still have a general northwesterly flow and no sustained heat in this pattern.

DAYS 11-15 (JULY 19-23)

Another area of high pressure builds in with cooler, drier weather to start the period, then warmer and increased humidity later in the period when the chance of showers and thunderstorms will return.

  1. Thanks TK
SPC highlighting my part of CT Tuesday in their day four outlook with a 15 percent chance of severe storms. Will see what happens.

    1. Yes, that is him.
      He was with TWC before.
He has met & journalism degrees & also a math minor.
Young too! Long career ahead. 🙂

        1. He’s 4 & 7PM weekdays, but the last few days he was covering most of the newscasts because Petey B. was off.

      1. Following on twitter. Thank you. Since I don’t watch tv and just follow individual Mets, is there a shakeup at NBC10? I have very little trust in and for most of the network heads

        1. NBC Boston hired 2 new people recently, an anchor and a meteorologist. Both are additions to the team. Met. Tevin Wooten will be 4PM & 7PM newscasts Mon-Fri while Pete handles 5, 6, and 11PM.

          1. Ok thanks. We have had a couple of discussions that are a bit of a cause for concern

  2. A brisk -92F with a wind chill of -137F at Amundsen Antartica aka “The South Pole” this morning.

    1. But it’s a moist cold!

On one site, I see a temperature of -79F, a dew point of -83F and 74% humidity. What does the dew point even mean in this situation? Is this usually referred to as the frost point?

        1. Clear. It hardly ever snows at the South Pole, and at the North Pole for that matter. 🙂 That location at the South Pole mentioned above gets only around 1 inch of melted precipitation per year, all of which falls in the form of snow. That’s not much.

    2. It actually dropped to -94F there, but the wind chill didn’t get below -137F.

They also have been reporting ice crystals falling from clear skies all day.

  3. It got cloudy here in Sudbury just awhile ago and when I looked at satellite I saw a line of clouds moving east to west in a line. What was that?

    1. Hybrid sea breeze / gradient-driven boundary. But it’s basically a sea breeze front.

  4. Speaking of Antarctica, this is the month that (male) Emperor penguins are huddled together sitting on top of their eggs in anticipation of their chicks hatching while their mates (females) are feasting many miles away on crill and other fish from the ocean. By the time the females return in August, their chicks will have been hatched and their mates (males) waiting in anticipation for their turn to feast while the mothers get to know their brand new chicks.

Emperor penguins are the rare species in which the babies get to meet “daddy” first. Not certain about the other breeds of penguins.

    Awwwww! 🙂

  5. All the medium range models are indicating a fairly insignificant amount of precipitation into / through next week on today’s 12z runs.

  6. 2:34 PM and only 74 here. Wow! Now that is cool for July 9th.
    Beautiful day, however!

Just finished watching an 8 part series on Apple TV entitled
    “SHINING GIRLS”

WOW! What a show! I thought it was awesome. PAY ATTENTION very carefully!

      1. Yes, thank you Philip. Feels even better today.
We’re pretty sure he had BA5, but one can never be sure unless it is sequenced. No one in the group he was with in Chicago got sick. He must have been extra run down and stressed as he doesn’t travel well.

        1. Great news. Interesting that no one in his group was sick. I wonder if he acquired on the plane. One of those things you just never know

          1. That’s good news JPD. I was thinking the same Vicki that he may have caught it on the plane, or even inside the airport especially if he wasn’t wearing a mask.

          2. We’ll never know. He had close contact with hundreds of people while he was there.

    1. We are not sure if any still live under the front stairs. I think we lost one. Probably the wobbly one that concerned me. Three wander between our yard and the ones on either side nightly.

We are learning to coexist. I’m on the deck now but keep an eye out. Thanks for asking ❤️

      How are you tonight.

      1. Same as earlier. Today is day 4 of my symptoms and has been the worst day so far but manageable :).

          1. So sweet. We hope to meet them all someday. So far the rest of the family is negative.

      2. You don’t want to get sprayed on the deck. Although you probably wouldn’t mind being out there all night!

        1. Hahahahaha. I think I’ll pass on being sprayed even if It means an night under the stars. We do have an outside shower
