DAYS 1-5 (NOVEMBER 10-14)
At upper levels, a low pressure trough will continue its slow trek across the Northeast early to mid week. At the surface, a warm front continues to drift northward across the region with light wind, areas of drizzle and fog in place, with a few rain showers as well, with a more southerly air flow set to take over toward midday as that front lifts northward and a cold frontal boundary approaches from the west. A wave of low pressure developing on that boundary will prolong occasional rainfall through the daylight hours. Tonight, the low moves beyond our region and opens the door for a drier, colder air mass from the west. Tuesday, Veteran’s Day, will be a chilly and windy day, with mainly dry weather, but we’ll have to watch for passing sprinkles of rain and flurries of snow due to cold air aloft associated with the upper level trough. An additional disturbance will dive out of the Great Lakes region and through this trough on Wednesday, bringing us lots of clouds. Previously, my forecast called for any precipitation with this system to remain north of our region, but I do need to include the chance for a little light rain/mix here, albeit insignificant. After the departure of this system, Thursday’s weather will resemble what is expected on Tuesday with breezy, chilly conditions, with a slight chance of a passing light shower of rain/mix/snow in a few areas. I’m expecting a little faster timing for the disturbance I previously mentioned for the start of the weekend, which shifts Friday’s forecast to include the chance of brief, insignificant precipitation.
TODAY: Overcast. Area of fog and drizzle with isolated to scattered showers this morning, then periods of rain this afternoon. Highs 53-60. Wind variable under 10 MPH early, becoming S 5-15 MPH.
TONIGHT: Rain showers and a possible thunderstorm early, followed by breaking clouds. Lows 33-40. Wind shifting to W and increasing to 10-20 MPH with higher gusts.
TUESDAY (VETERAN’S DAY): Clouds with intervals of sun. A brief snow flurry or sprinkle of rain possible, favoring higher elevations north and west of Boston. Highs 40-47. Wind W 10-20 MPH, gusts 25-35 MPH.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 27-34. Wind W 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy. A touch of light rain even some early-day mix may occur mainly north of I-90. Highs 47-54. Wind SW 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 33-40. Wind W 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.
THURSDAY: Partly sunny. A brief passing rain/mix shower possible. Highs Highs 45-52. Wind NW 10-20 MPH, higher gusts.
THURSDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 28-35. Wind NW 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.
FRIDAY: Variably cloudy. A rain/mix shower possible. Highs 46-53. Wind NW to N 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.
DAYS 6-10 (NOVEMBER 15-19)
High pressure brings fair weather to the region for the November 15-16 weekend with seasonable temps. Storm tracks into the Great Lakes early next week bringing a shot at unsettled weather to our region, followed by a return to fair weather toward the middle of next week.
DAYS 11-15 (NOVEMBER 20-24)
Watching one or two low pressure systems to track toward the Great Lakes with the potential to redevelop closer to New England bringing additional unsettled weather chances. Low confidence forecast. Still no temperature extremes indicated.

🙂
Nice job and love your photos.
LMAO !!!!!!
OMG, I died laughing!!!! Those photos are classic!!!!
THANK YOU for brightening up my day!!!!
Good morning and thank you TK.
54 here
Ocean temp: 53
Wordle: FAIL
We have the wordle train for success, should we create the wordle failure diner? ….. bar ??
More like a jail cell or for the train, the baggage car?
Better yet, we’re just thrown off the train. At least we are not alone today.
Perfect !! 🙂
Tom, Based on SClarkes images, I found this:
The hand-powered little railroad car is called a handcar, but also commonly known by other names such as a pump car, jigger, Kalamazoo, or draisine. These vehicles were used primarily by railway maintenance workers to travel along the tracks for inspections and repairs.
Handcar: This is the most common name for the vehicle, which is propelled by passengers pumping a handle up and down.
Pump car: This is another very common name, which directly describes the pumping action used to propel the car.
Jigger: A more informal name for a handcar.
Kalamazoo: This name originated from the Kalamazoo Manufacturing Company, which built many of these cars and is used to refer to the American-style pump-action handcar.
Draisine: This is a general term for self-propelled vehicles that run on a railway track and is often used in European contexts.
Velocipede: This term is also used, which is a general term for a human-powered vehicle.
I vote that when we fail, we are relegated to the
VELOCIPEDE!!!!
Or any of the other terms above.
I’ve always liked the word “Kalamazoo.” I think “I’m pumping the Kalamazoo” sounds good.
I’m down with that!!!!
Thank you, TK. Down to 51 from a 53 high. Held pretty steady overnight
0.19 total for event
Tom and JPD. Love your discussion above. It’s always nicer to start the day with a laugh. That’s the real win
4 here.
Nicely done!!!!
For me, I hate starting the day as a failure!!!!
Perfect way to start the day, NOT!!!!
Thank you and I understand but you are making the day into something fun. Tomorrow will be a win.
Well done Vicki!
Thank you.
Well?
He posted above.
Oof, sorry, I didn’t go up far enough.
Pretty funny stuff up there!!!!
I agree. The pictures got my focus. And laugh. 🙂
Current radar.

Yuk. That yellow blob is right over me

12z HRRR for tomorrow afternoon, shows that disturbance’s effect on scattered flurries/sprinkles/snow showers/rain showers opportunity.

If its a long enough shower, even if it started as rain, it would quickly turn to wet snow. Plenty cold above.
powdery upslope snows in the mtns with those temps
reexamining the simulated radar, the western side of the Berkshires might get some powdery snow.
I guess so!!!
From a friend in North central SC as we sit in the low 50s
37° this morning. Sunny with high of 47°
Low tomorrow of 26
The probability that the NE Patriots make the playoffs went up to 94-99%. Of course if they lose a game, it will go back down.
Oh, they WILL make the playoffs as long as Drake Maye
is still standing. They protected him better yesterday.
Yesterday’s game was very much like a play off game, thus it
was excellent and very necessary experience for the Patriots.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I am IMPRESSED as I could possibly be by the coaching of Mile Vrabel!!! He has been
outstanding!!! and he CARES about his players. Did you see him run onto the field when players were down????
I just keep noticing the STARK differences between him and Belichick.
If we had Vrabel instead of the master JERK, we’d still have Mac Jones leading the way here!!!
Belichick may have been the most successful NFL coach here, but I hated his GUTS!!! I despised the way he treated players
and I will NEVER forgive him for what he did to Malcom Butler!!! I hope he goes down in FLAMES with UNC.
I think 11 wins will get them in although sometime around 2008-2009, the Pats had 11 wins and didn’t make the playoffs. With 12 wins, they would be in and with 10, they would be fighting for a wild card spot. With 9 wins, they would have to pray to the football gods to get in.
Vrabel should get coach of the year. As for Belichick, there was a mix of good with a lot of bad thrown in!
🙂
Absolutely agree.
I agree with every word and would like to add McDaniels in the list.
I don’t think BB was or is successful though. Without Brady he had nothing. I say that in hindsight although remember hadi trying to tell us that.
Yes, McDaniels was a crucial addition to the staff this year.
Sure has been. I love the approach of both men. They compliment each other
I told you here the day he was hired that the team instantly got better . Mike wanted to coach here very bad. Whatever happens moving forward this year the pats already overachieved. If the pats can remain healthy & keep getting better , anything is possible this year & yes that includes the Super Bowl . Right now the way league is going everything is on the table .
Thanks, TK.
Tom, when you get a chance, please scroll up to your original posts this morning.
See what you think????
Hilarious and awesome !!
🙂
Thanks TK! I am currently in Las Begas where it is sunny and 80. Perfect weather and I do not look forward to returning back to colder temps tomorrow. Saw The Wizard of Oz at The Sphere with my wife. Amazing. You even get a feel of being in the vicinity of the tornado. Pretty cool stuff! Place is enormous
I don’t have enough appendages to count how many times
I’ve been to Las Vegas. How are the crowds?
I’ve heard that they are hurting.
What’s your game?
ENJOY!
First time back in 23 years JPDave – wow has Vegas changed. The crowds are enormous this weekend. Not what I expected. I did not gamble this weekend – I love craps and blackjack but have not played in so long that it’s best I did not play. I need to sharpen my knowledge again before participating – I would just hate to lose money for someone at a black Jack table by making a mistake. I get my fix in the pickem pool for the NFL. The sports books are great! Just got back from watching the sunset on the roof or Circa – 60 floors up. Amazing! It’s in downtown Vegas. Incredible place – have to go back
It’s only 28 at up at Massena, NY on the Canadian Border
Thanks TK.

Wordle in 6. Grrrr.
But, you got it!!!!
My guess is yesterday’s word may have caused some uncertainty. Plus this word has a component that is always tricky. I’ve seen so many 6 and fails today.
Good to get it.
https://radar.weather.gov/ridge/standard/KBOX_loop.gif
As had been simulated on previous HRRR runs, this string of showers is intensifying some.
The temperature is ever so slowly seeping downwards.
We’re down to 51 now.
Here also
Thank you TK!
Wordle: I have landed in the caboose with a lucky 6. Ugh!
It’s a 6 kind of day. Nice work getting it.
Thanks, TK!
Heaviest rain of the day coming through our area right now.
The Canadian Premier (Soccer) League championship game was played last night in a snowstorm in Ottawa. David Rodríguez of Atlético Ottawa tied the game at the 40th minute on a incredible bicycle kick which the BBC is dubbing “An ‘Icicle’ Kick.” 🙂
Here’s the video clip of the amazing goal:
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c7v89qmpn3do
It’s being coined the “icicle kick” – the stunning bicycle kick that lit up the Canadian Premier League final.
The match, played in a blizzard in Ottawa with the temperature dropping to -8C, had everything and delivered in the most Canadian of ways.
Home side Atletico Ottawa won their inaugural title – the North Star Cup – with a 2-1 extra-time win over Cavalry FC of Calgary.
But that barely tells the full story.
The game was repeatedly delayed so snow could be cleared from the pitch with the lines cleared every 15 minutes, the goalkeepers clearing their boxes with shovels and the match becoming almost unplayable in the second-half. A snowplough had to come onto the pitch before extra-time.
Ah, the revisionist history of Belichick continues.
“He never won anything without Brady”
I guess those two Super Bowls he won as defensive coordinator of the Giants, that even Parcells says is the reason they won, don’t count.
We’ll ignore that fact that he took the Browns to the playoffs in 1994 where they beat…..wait for it……the Patriots, in the Wild Card Game.
The Pats first Super Bowl win? Yup, it was Brady that came up with the defensive scheme to shut down “The Greatest Show on Turf”, right? And 2003, when they had a middle of the road offense and the #1 defense in the league. That was all Brady too, right?
This dynasty doesn’t start without Belichick at the helm. He’s the one who put together that defense that won the 1st 2 titles. He’s the one that decided to not go back to Bledsoe when he was healthy (which caused MASSIVE controversy around here). Oh, and lest you all forget, Brady did not win the 2001 AFC Championship game in Pittsburgh – that was Bledsoe, because Brady was injured in the 1st half. The Steelers had the #1 rushing offense in the NFL that year, and it was Belichick’s defense that held them to 58 yards in the AFCCG. Without that, they don’t even get to the Super Bowl.
Yes, things turned sour at the end, but to claim that it was all Brady and that Belichick had nothing to do with it shows that you know absolutely nothing about football.
Once again, you just have no clue how to make a counter point without degrading or insulting the person you are in disagreement.
The last sentence of your point is unnnecessary. Why do you need it ?
You do that often !!!!
It’s too bad, because you’re knowledgeable enough to have excellent debates with, but … well, and it’s not even my comment and I’m frustrated.
It’s sometimes not fun on this blog when you do this.
I speak my mind and don’t sugarcoat anything. I see no reason to. Always have, always will.
The common decency is think before you speak.
IMO you are incorrect. The dynasty started when brady arrived.
Facts generally escape you. And this is the end of our conversation. Have a wonderful night.
Before Tom Brady became the starting quarterback, the Patriots’ record with Bill Belichick was 17-41. This includes his first year as head coach in 2000 when they went 5-11, and the subsequent seasons where Drew Bledsoe was injured and Brady took over.
2000: Belichick’s first year with the Patriots ended with a 5-11 record.
2001: The Patriots started the season with a 1-4 record before Drew Bledsoe was injured, leading to Tom Brady taking over as the starting quarterback.
Overall: Belichick had a total of 17 wins and 41 losses in the seasons before Brady took over as the full-time starter.
5-11 + 1-4 = 17-41? In addition to completely ignoring my entire point about defense (which is the ENTIRE argument), you failed at math too.
Oh, and Brady took over in the 2nd game of the season, so the Pats couldn’t have been 1-4.
To use your own words: “Facts generally escape you.”
I didn’t fail. AI failed. Chatting with you isn’t something I care to put any effort into
BB undermined the confidence of a young QB…..that alone in my view erases absolutely anything. I learned from the best
Again. See ya
“It’s a poor craftsman who blames his tools for their mistakes.”
“I wasn’t wrong, AI was wrong.” But you quoted it, without checking it, therefore you are wrong.
This is why I rarely post anything of substance aside from my Wordle scores. It this kind of nonsense that takes away from the hard work TK puts forth daily. It surprises me how someone can be such a dink 97% of the time. It surprises more that TK can have much respect for someone who continues to put down other bloggers just because of a difference in opinion. I just don’t get it. Life is too short.
I second this with sadness, really.
Lord knows, focusing on myself, I want differing opinions and to be corrected, when I’m wrong. But there’s a way to do that and I just struggle on occasion sometimes with how it’s done.
It’s even harder for me as a teacher because I frequently have to respond to a wrong answer and give feedback in such a way that helps the student(s) improve without mentally discouraging them. So, I’m quite sensitive to that.
But again Arod, sadly, I share your sentiments.
Agree SClarke and sorry I responded.
To be fair, the very vast majority here has tremendous respect for the views of others.
Sorry. I meant arod. Although I absolutely agree.
3:30pm and it was rather dark with the clouds.
Even darker now.
Yuck, yuck, yuck !!
And double yuck.

Burlington VT getting periods of moderate to heavy snow
Kalamazoo makes yet another appearance today!
https://ibb.co/hJpLVX0H
Tom – I rarely engage people with narcissistic tendencies. However, when fellow bloggers are being demeaned and insulted without cause, I can’t help myself at times. You rarely engage, but when you do, I pay attention and others should also.
I see nothing to be gained by needing to be right 100% of the time. And although this person is an expert in meteorology, it doesn’t make him an expert in everything, which he portrays himself to be. I can certainly understand why TK respects him from a professional standpoint. Yet, when bloggers who have supported this blog since day one are insulted repeatedly, I wonder what it will take before TK intervenes, even if it means he does so in private behind the scenes.
Well said. And Thank you. I absolutely agree. When tom speaks I always listen. And when you speak it always catches my attention….even when in my old mind I get the name wrong
One more thing. Because I’m clearly not speaking clearly. Nothing to do with anyone here. Just a tough day tomorrow.
I did reach out once to see if we could talk. I never heard back
May I ask why the tough day tomorrow? Does it have anything to do with Mac? And forgive me for asking, but who did you try to reach out to?
Tomorrow is the 10th anniversary of Mac’s passing. I will go back tomorrow and read whw that day. What love we have Here
I reached out to SAK
And please never worry about asking 🙂
Haha. It’s okay. It’s complimentary when you mistake me for SClarke.
Oh my. You are wonderfully kind. We do have a special group on whw ❤️
I completely agree!
I think I get subtle messages
SClarke is honoring the 10 year loss of his dad. In the 5th? SClarke I’m thinking of you and you family and know your dad is smiling down.
Thank you for remembering and for your kind words.
Big hugs to you all ❤️
Check out this mid-winter like photo taken on Rte 242 in northern VT near Jay Peak YESTERDAY:
https://jaypeakresort.com/resort/photo-day#lg=1&slide=0
And it has been snowing hard up there again today as they rack up additional accumulation. Going to be some very deep early season snow depths in the mountains of northern VT.
Jay Peak still hasnt announced an opening date. Killington is opening tomorrow.
I-89 is a mess just north of Burlington VT. Road is snow covered and now closed in the SB direction. Looks like a whiteout on a few of the VTrans webcams…

My cousin is in Stowe and said snow there. There were areas they couldn’t get to today because of fog
It was 50 years ago tonight (almost to the hour) that the Edmund Fitzgerald went down in Lake Superior during a storm that recorded sustained winds of 58 knots and gusts of 70 knot winds with 35-foot rogue waves. 29 souls were lost and never recovered. The tragedy was memorized by Gordon Lightfoot’s 1976 hit ballad, “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.”
Thank you Captn. Very sad anniversary
* memorialized
That’s what I read 😉
Temp has crashed to 32F here in Coventry, CT.
Down to 37 here.
It was 35 in north central SC at 6:00.
That is impressive for this time of year.
Sure is. iIRC tomorrow is supposed to be really cold all day
Thanks, TK.
The Canadian soccer game in the snow in Ottawa looked like fun. Thanks for posting, Captain.
Someone mentioned being called out for being wrong or having a different opinion. I am a “let flowers bloom” person when it comes to opinions. Libertarian in this regard. And often facts by themselves don’t necessarily resolve matters. Stats can be deceptive, however objective they may be. Or used selectively to “make the proof.”
My golden rule is humility. We all get things wrong. It makes us human. And we can learn from our own mistakes. It’s what I taught my students in college, and my children.
Great comment. I’d love to see snow here. I remember years when we saw snow here on or before November 11
With a politically active mom, I learned quite young that the one of keys to life is respect for others Having differing views is a huge part of life.
Thumper said it best. If you can’t say something’ nice, don’t say nothin’ at all. Paraphrasing
Overachieving snowstorm in northern NY and VT tonight. This video and report is from Plattsburgh a short time ago where they received 7.5”. Only an inch or two were forecast.

JR mentioned on his final evening newscast of the night that even the Deep South received some snow yesterday. ❄️
Perhaps this means more persistent intrusions of Canadian cold than in recent winters.
It’s one of those cold fronts that NYC gets first before Boston. Boston (44) was colder than Portland ME (48) at 11:00 pm.
I don’t think it means a thing.
Just read all the comments above. I have many thoughts on what was discussed, but this blog is so great, I am very reluctant to join in. Sorry about that.
Once I open my big mouth, I can get into trouble very quickly.
I’m sorry I opened mine but sadly it seems to be in my dna. I apologize to all here. Whw truly is a great blog. After all, every family has disagreements
New post…
