DAYS 1-5 (MAY 28 – JUNE 1)
A cold front and secondary trough pushed through our region late yesterday and last night with isolated showers and a switch from a very warm to a more seasonable air mass. As we get into an upper trough on the eastern side of an omega block, we’ll see diurnal clouds pop up today and some of them will produce showers, along with a slight chance of a thunderstorm. Any of these showers or storms can grow enough to produce some small hail. This may also be a good day to look for rainbows if a shower is departing your area later in the day when the sun angle is lower. After a quiet but cool overnight and Friday morning, clouds move back in as a vigorous upper low and associated surface system dive south southeastward out of eastern Canada. This will bring us a period of unsettled weather later Friday and much of Saturday. Though it will not be overcast with rain the entirety of the time, clouds will dominate, and wet weather – a period of rain – is most likely Friday evening, followed by a couple rounds of showers during Saturday. A period of rain and drizzle is possible at some point Saturday on the back side of the surface low as it heads off the coast. This would most likely occur in southeastern NH and eastern MA. While some guidance leans toward this hold off until later Saturday, I currently favor an earlier timeline, but will watch short range guidance trends to try to pin down when the best chance of that would be. This system moves far enough offshore to drastically improve the weather for Sunday, but like today, with upper level low pressure in place, we see at least diurnal cloud development, and I cannot rule out a few pop-up showers for the final afternoon of May. The next disturbance drops into the upper trough position via eastern Canada on Monday to start June off with the chance of additional pop-up showers.
TODAY: Sun and patchy clouds morning. Clouds more developed this afternoon with the potential for isolated to scattered showers and the chance of a thunderstorm including the possibility of small hail. Highs 65-72. Wind N 5-15 MPH.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 49-56. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.
FRIDAY: Limited sun / lots of clouds. Rain chances increase north to south late-day. Highs 62-69. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Showers likely. Slight chance of a thunderstorm. Lows 51-58. Wind W 5-15 MPH.
SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy with periods of rain morning, especially southeastern NH and eastern MA. Variably cloudy with additional showers possible afternoon. Highs 58-65. Wind N 10-20 MPH with higher gusts.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 46-53. Wind NW 5-15 MPH with higher gusts, diminishing overnight.
SUNDAY: Partly sunny. A pop-up shower possible. Highs 65-72. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.
SUNDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 50-57. Wind W up to 10 MPH.
MONDAY: Variably cloudy. Chance of afternoon showers. Highs 66-73. Wind W 5-15 MPH becoming variable.
DAYS 6-10 (JUNE 2-6)
Omega blocking pattern puts our region under a trough of low pressure with a few shower chances and temperatures below normal.
DAYS 11-15 (JUNE 7-11)
Omega blocking pattern weakens and flattens to a more zonal (west to east) flow with a couple shower chances and temperatures more seasonable, though somewhat variable.
Thanks TK !
Wordle: 3 (I know this word ๐ )
Should be a fun sky day today with the low topped cumulus and maybe a fun radar tracking day in eastern Mass later on.
Great 3
!!!!
Thanks JpDave !
Nice 3. I have been ne guess remaining and may be lucky okโing at a FAIL
Good morning and thank you TK

Once it gets just south and east of us, it puts us under a decent NE low level jet right off the ocean for a handful of hours.
This should be good for, at the very least, a very heavy, thick windswept mist with some showers mixed in too. Kind of rain, that none of it will really runoff, this can be a rain that can really soak in.
I understand the models are generally .25 to .75, but when you get that in 20 minutes in a torrential tstorm, that really doesn’t help much. This should be a very productive rain for an opportunity to be fully absorbed into the ground.

Superb, Sue !
Wonderful!!
Wow. Very nice. I have feeling once I find the word that I wonโt be happy with myself
Thanks TK
For those who have entered the world of prediction markets, you can buy, sell, and trade shares on the weather. I have not attempted it myself but here is a screenshot of temperature predictions.

Disturbance #1, Eastern Pacific.

Perhaps the start of an extremely active season in the Pacific?
We’ll see.
Just made 70 here. Nice.
Thank you, TK. Up to 67 from 58. Brilliant sunshine and Is this our high for he day? If so, Iโll take it
72 high ๐
Thank you. And I should have been more clear. I was thinking weโre close to our high. And I love it.
Sue, I suspect I missed it, but what time is graduation tomorrow

Wordle 6
Why? you got it. I wasn’t much better at 5.
Start with the wrong word and you’re toast, simple as that. ๐
Thank you. My first words gave me three letters with one in correct spot. The word that should have been familiar just didnโt come to me.
It happens.
Thanks, TK.
A day or two at the beach in the Presidential Range (excerpt below is from Mt. Washington Observatory):
Winter weather returns to the higher terrain in the coming days. Temperatures will remain just above freezing on the summits on Thursday. This will lead to a wintry mix of cold rain, freezing rain, sleet, and snow. Stronger convective activity could produce heavier showers and small hail. Winds will ramp up during the day, with afternoon gusts approaching category 1 strength; however, thunderstorms could easily push gusts even higher. Overnight, upslope flow will keep showers lingering, and as temperatures drop, a transition to snow and sleet is expected. Summits that remain in the clouds will also see glaze ice accretion on surfaces, leading to increasingly icy trail conditions. The freezing line with this first round looks to drop down to 4000 feet overnight.
Friday, a more robust low will drop down from the north, poised for another round of precipitation. The freezing line will retreat upslope to 4000 feet by the afternoon, and elevations above this elevation will likely see a sloppy mix of wintry precipitation types. As the low passes Friday night, cold air will follow. This will lead to a rapid transition to snow. Wet surfaces will freeze and glaze, and rime ice will coat surfaces. Additionally, the backside of the passing low is expected to provide 2 to 4 inches of snow, with a few outlying models pushing the overnight total closer to 6 inches. The freezing line will once again drop in elevation to 3000 feet by Saturday morning. And, as the cold air moves in, so do the winds on Friday night. The timing and track of the low is a bit scattered this morning, so what I reflected is a middle-ground approach. However, earlier and further east or west will easily boost summit winds to over 100 mph.
I got Wordle in 4 today. I really thought I had it in 3, but I’m still happy to move up from my very comfortable and stable spot in the 5-car. ๐
Well done!!!!
Good job.
Thanks, TK!
Sue, sending you positive vibes that the weather works out for an outdoor graduation ceremony tomorrow night!

I feel like I can also see a seabreeze boundary west of Boston, moving slowly westward and an extension of it on the north shore, also slowly moving inland.
Hmmm
Logan has EAST wind and temp 61.
Here we have dropped from 70 ALL the way down to 69. ๐ ๐
