DAYS 1-5 (JUNE 14-18)
The heat and humidity will tick-up over yesterday a little, but the latter will not be to the level of what we experienced Thursday and Friday of this week, and a ventilating breeze will also make it more tolerable outside today. We stay rain-free through the daylight hours and into the evening, with shower and thunderstorm chances increasing late evening into overnight from west to east with a passing cold front. This front will move offshore early Monday with a lingering shower possible in the eastern coastal plain early. Otherwise look for a cooler, dry day with a breeze and a sun / cloud mix. High pressure slides south of the region with fair and seasonably warm weather Tuesday, though humidity levels remain fairly low. Clouds increase Wednesday ahead of an approaching warm front as low pressure heads into the Great Lakes, but I do expect our day to be rain-free, seasonably warm, and becoming moderately humid. Thursday’s weather is the most interesting and potentially volatile of this 5-day period as we will have a vigorous surface moving from the Great Lakes to southeastern Canada, and a vigorous upper trough moving into our region. With the arrival of warm, humid, unstable air, the stage is set for showers and thunderstorms, with the potential for some severe weather. With it being “day 5”, obviously it’s not a highest confidence forecast, but the signs are there already and I feel it’s important to note it now, and obviously update the outlook as we get closer to that day.
TODAY: Sun filtered to interrupted by variable high and mid level clouds. Highs 85-92 except 77-84 South Coast / Cape Cod. Dew point rises above 60. Wind S 5-15 MPH, gusts around 20-25 MPH, strongest on the South Coast.
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy. A good chance of showers with possible thunderstorms from west to east late evening and overnight. Fog patches in sheltered locations. Lows 62-69. Dew point 60+. Wind SW 5-15 MPH, higher gusts possible especially around any storms.
MONDAY: Early clouds with a shower potential especially eastern coastal areas, then a sun / cloud mix. Highs 77-84. Dew point falls into 50s. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.
MONDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 56-63. Dew point lower 50s. Wind W under 10 MPH.
TUESDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 78-85 except cooler South Coast / Cape Cod. Dew point upper 50s. Wind W to SW 5-15 MPH.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Clear. Lows 57-64. Dew point middle to upper 50s. Wind SW up to 10 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: Sun followed by clouds. Highs 79-86, coolest South Coast. Dew point 60+. Wind S 5-15 MPH.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. A shower possible. Lows 63-70. Dew point 60+. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
THURSDAY: Variably cloudy. Showers and thunderstorms likely. Highs 76-83. Dew point rises to near 70. Wind SW 10-20 MPH, higher gusts possible.
DAYS 6-10 (JUNE 19-23)
The June 19-21 period features fair weather, starting cooler and drier with a breeze followed by a warming trend. The summer solstice occurs at 4:24 a.m. EDT on June 21. Higher humidity along with shower and thunderstorm chances June 22-23.
DAYS 11-15 (JUNE 24-28)
Leaning toward a wet weather opportunity with a passing trough early period followed by a drier west to northwest flow and seasonably warm weather.
Thanks TK.
Thanks! Wordle 4
Excellent !
Very nice TJammer.
Awesome!
Thanks TK !
Wordle: 6
I’ll take that again as it’s a word I am not familiar with at all.
Good getting it. I wondered how many would be familiar with the word. I darn near didn’t enter it because I thought it might be a stretch for nyt
May I join you in the caboose? Horrible word today!!!!
My third guess was one of those where you look at after entering and wonder what you were thinking.
Wordle 4
Excellent!
Thank you !
Excellent Vicki !
Thank you TK!
Wordle: 2 (improvement from yesterday’s 5 that I forgot to post)
Wow! How on earth would anyone get this word in 2. AMAZING!!! WELL DONE!!!
Had the vowels after my first guess and got darn lucky on the second 🙂
WOW. Exceptional!!
Brilliant, Sue !
Thank you, TK. Wednesday still looking ok. Yay.
We are 77/65. Up from a nice sleeping temp of 56.
Good morning.
Low was 68. Current temp wacked out as discussed yesterday. Surrounding stations reporting 81, which sounds reasonable.
Ocean: 62
Wordle: 6. A phew 6 for a word I never heard of in my life. I was hopelessly lost and only got it by letter substitution with last guess.
Kudos to those with fine scores today. Well done!!
Below is an urban heat map for Boston. By clicking the arrows at the bottom, you’ll see the change as the day goes by.

Well done, JPD.
Are you kidding. That was the worst word yet!!!
Horrific word. Very lucky to have gotten it at all. 🙂
See you in the caboose 🙂
Interesting. Thank you
Thanks TK
For the first time in my life I am waking up and the NY Knicks are NBA Champions!
Nice JimmyJames
They earned it!!!!
Many Knicks fans including myself never thought we would see this day with Knicks winning a championship. They were saying last about 70% of New Yorkers were not alive the last time they won a championship in 1973.
Congratulations, JJ, and all of the Knicks fans! I think Jimmy B is also a Knicks fan! They certainly had a incredible playoff run, only losing three games and sweeping two series!
They had the grit that the young Spurs team did not have.
One of the perks of retirement is that I am enjoying watching sports late into the evening. I have enjoyed the NBA playoffs as well as the Stanley Cup. The Hurricanes can take the Cup tonight in Vegas.
I’ll join Sue with a 2 for Wordle.
Holy Crap Batman!!!!! What did you and Sue eat or drink today to get that word??? I am truly impressed by the both of you.
Given your performances, I think I should just give up this game as I am simply not wired for it. I cannot compete with that!!!!
WOW!!! WOW!!
Yesterday our son made some amazing strawberry shortcake. I ate way too much of it. Maybe you could try that.
🙂 🙂
Eating strawberry shortcake instead of playing Wordle?
No can do. I need to drop some serious weight.
Good try!!
I’ve play nearly a year now and I ONLY get the word 90% of the time. I believe 95% is considered good, so I am a low ranking player. 🙂 🙂 :0
AI Overview For Wordle, a win rate (success rate) of 95% to 99% is considered excellent, as the vast majority of regular players almost always finish the puzzle in 6 tries or fewer.A more specific breakdown of what separates a “good” player from a “great” one involves looking at both your win rate and your average guesses:Excellent: 98% – 100% win rate. If your win rate is this high, you rarely lose (or you carefully avoid obscure traps).Good: 95% – 97% win rate. This is the sweet spot for the average, dedicated daily player.Casual: Under 95% win rate. This is common for players who take risks, play on Hard Mode, or only do the puzzle occasionally
What this says about Hard Mode is definitely wrong. I often look at the results of other players after I play:
https://engaging-data.com/wordle-guess-distribution/
I’ve never seen the scores or win% worse for Hard Mode than Standard Mode. Usually they’re both significantly better for Hard Mode.
I’m not sure if playing in Hard Mode makes it easier (!) or if the people who would do better anyway are more likely to choose Hard Mode.
UGH!!!!!!!
Oh my goodness. Well done
Brilliant, again !
I do not understand Thursday’s severe threat for a couple of reasons:
1. SPC paints the severe threat for Thursday SW of our area.
https://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/exper/day4-8/day5prob.gif
2. The global modes paint best CAPE well SW of our area

What am I missing? Something seems off to me??????
Thanks, TK!
83/58
Scotland beat Haiti, 1-0, at “Boston Stadium” in Foxborough last night. Because of a Brazil tie, the Scots are in first place in their group this morning.
I am guessing that the match went on without a hitch. I haven’t seen any news reports of major traffic tie-ups, problems with the T or rowdy behavior.
The wonderful and fun Tartan Army are with us in the Boston/Providence region for another week as Scotland plays its second group match versus Morocco Friday in Foxborough. The Tartan Army donated $10,000 to the Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence.
Joining the 2 car for Wordle from the west coast (TK would know this word if he played…). West coast this week but 5 days out from a 5 week east coast stint..
Unbelievable!!! Well done!!
Are we playing with a bunch of savants???
Most IMPRESSIVE!!!
Nah, just luck…
In fact the Wordle bot was more impressed with my 5 yesterday than with my 2 today…
I highly doubt that!
WOW. Three 2s!!!
A 3rd brilliant !!
To JpD.
Was looking earlier at the Thursday situation and can see developments SW of MA as you stated. I am trying to see what would move everything more to the NE.
I am seeing some stronger wind potential on Thursday.
Thanks, TK.
87/59 here. Clearly warmer than yesterday.
86/64. I’d like your 59 please
We are planning Father’s Day activities for next Sunday with a 3 week old baby and an AC that is on the fritz. Can you give me a guesstimate of heat and humidity for the day? Thanks.
I’m watching American Graffiti. Darned if I can recall whether I’ve ever seen it. But then I lived it. So many memories.
