Timing It Right

4:30PM

Unsettled weekdays, nice weekends? Could be a pattern. A frontal system falling apart in the region is responsible for the cloudiness over the region and the shower activity today.  A follow up low pressure area will slide across southeastern New England Thursday, which will be a wet day for most of the region. Upper level low pressure still lingering over the region Friday will hold some clouds and a slight chance of showers in the area. But the weekend should be nice as high pressure moves in. There will be a few episodes of cloudiness but overall sun should dominate and it will turn out nice and warm, especially Sunday. As next week begins, it looks like we head back into an unsettled stretch.

Forecast for southeastern New England…

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with a spot shower possible evening. Cloudy overnight, rain by dawn. Lows 55-60. Wind SE under 10 MPH.

THURSDAY: Overcast. Rain likely through mid afternoon then drizzle with periods of rain late afternoon/evening. Highs 60-65, upper 50s immediate shore. Wind E to NE up to 10 MPH.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Cloudy. Chance of drizzle and light rain early. Patchy fog. Lows in the 50s. Wind N up to 10 MPH.

FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy to partly sunny. Slight chance of showers late morning into afternoon. Highs 65-70. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.

SATURDAY: Partly sunny. Low 55. High 75.

SUNDAY: Mostly sunny. Low 58. High 82.

MONDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of showers/thunderstorms. Low 62. High 78.

TUESDAY: Variably cloudy. Chance of showers. Low 58. High 74.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Low 56. High 72.

  1. Timing it Right: is this related to The Price is Right? 😉 I actually just watched that today! Does that mean if you get the forecast right you’ll win a car, TK? That would be nice! Hahaha 😉

I don’t mind the off and on clouds and sun, etc. It’s still nice, nonetheless. And hey, at least Mother Nature is being nice, and is saving us the nicer weather for the weekends. 😉

    1. I wouldn’t mind winning a car…. The 2 that I am driving have a combination of too many miles on them. 😉

  2. TK, i was planning on putting down some starter fertilizer and grub ex tonight. Do you think we will get too much rain in which it will get washed away?

    1. 0.50 to 1.00 inch in your area. That is probably ok since I don’t think we’ll have any long-lasting pounding downpours.

      1. Thanks TK but I chickened out. I try to research the watering requirements for a three week old sodded lawn and I see a million different opinions. The same is true with bug and crabgrass preventer. It’s so frustrating! I have a call into Kingston turf farm so I can ask them, just waiting for the call back.

        1. Oh that’s good. A part you did not did than I suspect. I found a grub on Memorial Day and treated last night and tonight . If you need to apply grub ex tonight is the night as it needs to be activated within 24hrs.

  3. Thanks TK! Besides tomorrow it looks like a pretty good stretch of weather coming up. Tomorrow’s system is kind of funny in that it resembles a winter storm in how the models are struggling with it and showing totally different results. The GFS has only a quarter inch or so of rain for most except southeast Mass, where there are higher totals, but the Euro has a good 1-2″ for all of us. That’s a huge difference just hours out from the storm, isn’t it? I think the GFS is gonna get shown up based on the high totals shown on most of the short range models.

  4. I’m hesitant to say it, but sensing a large scale pattern change around June 20.

There are a few things that can go wrong with it, however. So this is not an official declaration yet.

      1. Well it would be good if you like some types of weather to dominate and bad if you like other types. 😉

I think the majority would like it, if it came to fruition.

        1. Ohhhhh it’ll be bad. I know of a few (not representing the majority) who have complained loudly about not having warm weather and then tomorrow put AC on because it was too hot……..aren’t new englanders supposed to be hardy folk 😉

I have to leave here at 4:30. I know I’m asking a lot but do yiu think showers or downpours. Thank you

            1. Surgery is tomorrow. We met with drs today. He is first surgery but it could take 10 or so hours. Thanks John I was looking out the window to see if I could see you. Of course that would be a stretch since I don’t know what you look like 😉

              1. Sounds like it will be a long day. We will be here to keep your mind off of things if you want to post. Extra prayers tonight.

  5. Daughter and I walked out of Brigham tonight and immediately said it smelled like the ocean. I said it is either Old saltys dreaded east wind or old salty is so upset he is shedding salt 😉

  6. Ahh what a beautiful morning. NOT!!!

But, we’ll take it IF it sets up a fantastic weekend.

Neighbors took down EVERY SINGLE tree in their yard behind our house.
They are putting up an addition (HUGE!). DISGUSTING!

We’re going to FRY without the shade provided by those beautiful trees, now
departed. Some people are real DORKS!!! They have NO REGARD for nature!!!!

    1. I agree, the people that now live in the house are actually nice, but the people that built the house, were jerks. There use to be a house there that was 1 story. The area that they can build on is tiny. There was actually a possibility of us getting the land after they tore down the old house but no. What they did was cut into the woods on the other side of the clearing about 8 or 9 large oaks, about 5 maple trees as well, and they built up the land into the freakin marsh. which is actually protected land. So they did about three things wrong. 1. cut down trees
2 build a house that funnes wind and all the crap in the marsh up to my house instead.
3 they built onto protected land. They were suppose to use the original foundations.
and personally i do not like the fact that their deck is so tall that it can see over our pool fense and the fact that they have a window that over looks my entire pool area.
Some people have no respect for others and for nature. It was sad because its also a turtle root from the river to the nesting grounds up on the hill.

  7. We seem to sitting in a rain void here on the south shore. Raining pretty good both north and south, but not here. I was/am still hoping we get some decent rain from this event.

    1. That gap in the radar is mind boggling. I’m right on the edge but still getting some decent rain.

  8. Can’t tell what it is doing here. John, do the hospitals in this complex produce their own power? There is some really interesting looking stuff out there that looks to be cooling and perhaps heating.

    1. Not here. You may be looking or able to see the roof ? There is all sorts of stuff on the roofs like exhausts , fans and motors etc. we may produce own power down the road. .

          1. :). He went in at 9:36. Nurse called at 1:50 and said he was doing well. Still a few hours to go. Thank you North

            1. Keep us updated Vicki . Go down in the lobby and grab a coffee and watch the rain it might help you to relax .

  9. Thanks everyone for such special support. John the family liaison room where we wait has coffee and tea :). Daughter is walking a bit now. Then I will take a stroll. Its amazing how busy this place is.

    1. Been thinking about you all day Vicki. Glad that all is going as planned and before you know it he will be out.

  10. The last 3-4 hrs certainly have seen the rain. Consistently moderate, occasionally heavy.

  11. Ace is the big day tomorrow? Enjoy it. Are you Italian as well or just your soon to be wife. My aunt lived over Italy while working awhile back. Heard its nice.

  12. He did great. Dr was pleased. 10+ hours. Thank you all for your support. You are amazing !

    1. That’s great and also one long surgery. How long does he need to stay in for. Now that I’m sure he is sleeping you go home now and get some rest. Thank you for keeping us informed as I can speak for all of us that we are there for you.
