If You Are Surprised Then You Are New Here

7:29AM

SUMMARY…
Nothing about the weather in the next 7 days will be atypical of past Spring seasons in New England. High pressure brings sun and warmth today with some cooler conditions along the coastal areas, but this will become a much more pronounced cooling especially in eastern coastal areas and even inland somewhat during Friday afternoon when a back-door cold front arrives. The sunshine expected on Friday may be replaced by a low overcast at least in eastern coastal areas by late day or evening. That cool air may remain in place into Saturday before getting pushed away again by a returning west to southwest wind flow, which will strengthen through Sunday, Mother’s Day, bringing another preview of Summer. This continues Monday then comes to an end due to a cold front Tuesday and Wednesday. Some showers and thunderstorms are expected with this front, as early as later Monday, but more likely Tuesday. Any rain will be welcomed as top soils are dry and we also have elevated risk of brush fires across much of southern New England.

SOUTHEASTERN NEW ENGLAND FORECAST…
TODAY: Sunny. Highs 60s South Coast, 70s immediate East Coast, 80-85 inland. Wind W to SW 5-15 MPH.
TONIGHT: Clear. Lows in the 50s, around 60 urban areas. Wind light W.
FRIDAY: Sunshine, may be replaced by late-day with low clouds especially southeastern NH and eastern MA. Highs 60s coast, 70s interior, falling into the 50s eastern coastal areas and 60s interior during the afternoon. Wind light W to NW shifting to NE and increasing to 10-20 MPH with higher gusts from northeast to southwest, especially southeastern NH and eastern MA.
SATURDAY: Low clouds dissipate, sun returns. Low 50-55. Highs 60s coast, 70s inland.
SUNDAY – MOTHER’S DAY: Mostly sunny. Highs in the 80s except cooler South Coast.

  1. With all this sun the next five days at least the ocean temps will warm hopefully above fifty degrees.

    1. I wonder what the suspension might be for a player who uses PED’s, or a doctor or trainer who hands out painkillers. Or a doc who sends a player back in the game when he has just suffered a concussion. Or a league which ignores medical evidence of serious brain injuries.

Yikes. Let’s focus instead on a probably under-inflated football.

      1. From the report. Buried around page 200+

Who can possibly punish based on this

“In sum, the data did not provide a basis for us to determine with absolute certainty whether there was or was not tampering as the analysis of such data ultimately is dependent upon assumptions and information that is not certain.”

  2. I am a bit surprised, after the findings from the recon flight, that the NHC didn’t go ahead and classify this entity as a subtropical storm.

They mention finding winds of 40-45 mph winds on the north and west side of this entity. Perhaps they need that in all quadrants ?

    1. I had read that also and was going to ask what the parameters would be. Thanks Tom.

Also, there are pictures from Humarock again of the whales. I am hearing right whales and a family of four or five. The picture was posted on the Humarock FB page and person said they seem to be hanging around by the cliff today

    1. Nice circulation. Nice build up of T-storms near the end of the loop.
Looks like a tropical storm to me. πŸ˜€

  3. I’m kind of looking forward to tomorrow’s back door cold front.

I like when they come through when its warm or hot and the temp drop is dramatic. I dont find them as interesting when they come through at 8am and the temp simply doesnt rise all day.

Perhaps it will slow down a bit to allow for the noticeable temp drop.

  4. Vicki – I believe they are the right whales that were off Plymouth over the weekend. They were starting to head north and I hear they are off 4th cliff now. So cool.

    1. Thanks Sue. That’s what the Humarock FB page said. I love that so many have been able to see them.

  5. Parts of Cape Cod and nearby areas may not see much sun at all from Friday afternoon until sometime in the middle of next week.

    1. No sun even on Mother’s Day TK?? Shouldn’t the widespread land breezes expected negate any low clouds even for the Cape?

      1. A southwest flow with lots of low level moisture would bring a whole lot of low clouds across Cape Cod on Sunday. No land breeze for them.

  6. Tom here is somewhat of an answer regarding potential of Ana forming.

@EdPiotrowski: According to @NHC_Atlantic only thing lacking to make this a subtropical cyclone are more storms. Blossoming now http://t.co/Vb0Z2z8jsU

      1. This whole thing is a witch hunt on the part of the NFL.
If they can’t prove anything, LET IT GO!!!

        Moronic IDIOTS!!!

  7. Hi OS. I missed you. Did you see my post re hopkintom? I am certain your daughter knows by now but in case

    1. Oh, thanks. I just went and found it. Thank you.

She doesn’t have any children. Her kids are her students at Medfield high.
      πŸ˜€
And if anyone ever tried anything with her, she’d put them in the Hospital believe me. She know how to protect herself.

      1. Good to know. My Uxbridge daughter is just 100 lbs but can control a thousand plus pound horse. And would do the same. Medfield is a lovely town.

  8. Oh What a Night… Temp 73

Still on deck. A very light breeze. The sound of kids playing on the street.

    Ahhhhhhh

    1. It is really nice for sure
I told my wife that it was more probable
Than not that there will be a back door
Cold front tmorrow. Let’s see what happens.
      CLIMO says it’s coming!

    1. Awesome and says it all!!
      NFL – NITWIT FOOTBALL LEAGUE!!!

Roger Goodel and the rest of
      His football croonies
Should hang their heads in shame!!!

      If they suspend Brady
      I’ll never watch another
      Game again.

If there is no proof wr must
      Suspend.

    2. Thanks DS. It literally turns my stomach. My dads brother was an amazingly talented football player. This was back in maybe the 1930s or early 40s. He had offers from major teams. He was never able to accept them. He fell apart and spent the rest of his life in state hospitals. It was determined it was from too many concussions. The NFL is just beginning to address that Nearly a century later. And yet they are trying to destroy someone over a psi or so in a football.

      1. Oops. OS. I thought it wasn’t till tomorrow pm. Serves me right for listening to the network forecast

    1. WHW also expecting BD front. πŸ™‚
We’ve been watching this potential for several days. Glad it’s going to actually take place. πŸ™‚

      1. Yes you have!
AND I think you have been whispering
To Eric because he has had it as long as you.

      2. You do this sll of the time. You always
Mention WHW in the 3rd person ss in
        We or we’ve.

        1. And the dewpoints …. Single digits and teens ….

When that dry air comes over the ocean, will that temp ever fall ……

Somehow, Marshfield will be 48F or 49F by tomorrow evening. πŸ™‚

And once thats in here, its going to be difficult to get it scoured out.

      3. TK YOU have been expecting it and I never stopped telling folks it would happen.

This is a fun little mini event

  9. for the football talking, take a look at the text messages.
this is after tom brady supposedly complained about the balls being under inflated during the jets game. and some games after that.
McNally: Tom sucks…im going make that next ball a fuckin balloon
Jastremski: Talked to him last night. He actually brought you up and
said you must have a lot of stress trying to get them done…
Jastremski: I told him it was. He was right though…
Jastremski: I checked some of the balls this morn… The refs fucked
us…a few of then were at almost 16
Jastremski: They didnt recheck then after they put air in them
McNally: Fuck tom …16 is nothing…wait till next sunday
    Jastremski: Omg! Spaz
On October 21, 2014, McNally and Jastremski exchanged the following text
    messages:
McNally: Make sure you blow up the ball to look like a rugby ball so
tom can get used to it before sunday
    Jastremski: Omg
On October 23, 2014, three days before a Sunday game against the Chicago
Bears, Jastremski and McNally exchanged the following messages:
Jastremski: Canβ€Ÿt wait to give you your needle this week πŸ™‚
McNally: Fuck tom….make sure the pump is attached to the
    needle…..fuckin watermelons coming
    Jastremski: So angry
McNally: The only thing deflating sun..is his passing rating
The next day, October 24, 2014, Jastremski and McNally exchanged the
    following messages:
Jastremski: I have a big needle for u this week
McNally: Better be surrounded by cash and newkicks….or its a rugby
    sunday
    McNally: Fuck tom
Jastremski: Maybe u will have some nice size 11s in ur locker
McNally: Tom must really be working your balls hard this week
    6
On October 25, 2014, McNally and Jastremski exchanged the following
    messages:
    Jastremski: Size 11?
    Jastremski: 2 or 3X?
McNally: Tom must really be on you
    McNally: 11 0r 11 half……2x unless its tight fitting
Jastremski: Nah. Hasnβ€Ÿt even mentioned it, figured u should get
something since he gives u nothing
On January 7, 2015, eleven days before the AFC Championship Game, McNally
and Jastremski discussed how McNally would have a β€œbig autograph day” and
receive items autographed by Brady the following weekend, before the playoff
game against the Baltimore Ravens. McNally and Jastremski exchanged the
    following text messages:
McNally: Remember to put a couple sweet pig skins ready for tom to
    sign
Jastremski: U got it kid…big autograph day for you
McNally: Nice throw some kicks in and make it real special
    Jastremski: It ur lucky. 11?
McNally: 11 or 11 and half kid
On January 10, 2015, immediately prior to the game between the Patriots and the
Ravens, in the Patriots equipment room with both Brady and Jastremski present,
McNally received two footballs autographed by Brady and also had Brady
autograph a game-worn Patriots jersey that McNally previously had obtained.
    7. In addition to the messages described above, before the start of the 2014-15
season, McNally referred to himself as β€œthe deflator” and stated that he was β€œnot
going to espn……..yet.” On May 9, 2014, McNally and Jastremski exchanged
    the following text messages:
    McNally: You working
    Jastremski: Yup
McNally: Nice dude….jimmy needs some kicks….lets make a
    deal…..come on help the deflator
    7
McNally: Chill buddy im just fuckin with you ….im not going to
    espn……..yet

CAN ANYONE SAY FRAMEGATE!!!! These to idiots should have to go up to the press conference and apologies to everyone and also get fired. Not ruin Brady’s reputation. the commisioner is trying to improve his image with the rest of the nfl and since everyone hates the patriots, this is the best way how to punish even though there is not hard evidence of brady or any other football player or coach had anything to do with it. Also most of tom brady’s interview never made it on the report. so its bogus , I still think brady has to pay a fine and gets suspended for a game because that the commisioner way. He needs to get his *** fired.

    1. Thanks Longshot. Moving at 1 mph. Ugh

Spring snow, severe weather and Ana ……what season is it ?

  10. 72 here – lovely morning! Except my goldfinches are now scolding me every time I sit on the deck because I need to clean and fill their feeder πŸ™

  11. Down to 59 at the airport at 11AM. Still nice and Sunny. The sunshine takes the
bite out of that Northeast Wind. Let’s keep it that way. πŸ˜€

  12. Dropped a bit. 68 but a cooler NNE breeze. Feels nice. I was just out to get some plants for the garden and several folks were saying how much they enjoy the changing patterns this time of year. I of course had to chime in since it seemed unusual for me to hear anyone (let alone more than one) say they were looking forward to a change that involves cooler air.

      1. I’m heading to my nursery later today. Daughter said smaller trees (she has two apple) need to be sprayed now. I need to see what to do with bigger trees. I had one in my hair last night well after I came indoors….ewwwww

  13. Was out at lunch. Coolish breeze, but very pleasant with nice sunshine.
MUCH nicer than I expected. We’ll see if it steadily goes down hill this
    afternoon.

Down to 56 at the Airport as of 1PM with Broken Clouds. I Don’t see them here.

  14. No clouds here yet but you can def feel the air cooling off. Down to 65 here in Walpole.

    1. That’s not nice.

BUT what does this say for temperatures tomorrow and/or Sunday????

    2. Westfield, 89F …… Springfield, 87F

      Mt Washington summit, 54F.

Its going to be milder on the summit of Mt Washington in a few hrs than it will be in easternmost New England.

      1. That tells me 90 is in the cards sometime this weekend.
        Same air mass. πŸ˜€

    1. You Mean we will be dealing with Post Sub-Tropical Storm Ana. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

  15. Taking both Mom & Dad to the doc for checkups today. I’ll be on to update a bit later. πŸ™‚

  16. 62 and glorious. It must be garden folks. I was just at another nursery and the staff and some customers were saying they love the changes. Are they maybe WHW readers πŸ™‚

  17. US National Weather Service Boston MA
