  1. Good Sunday Morning!
My rose bush has buds on it! I am a little worried about my hydrangeas, as they too are budding! This weather is totally messing with my plants!

  2. Thank you, TK

Kids ended up kidnapping me for a third night last week. We Had pizza dinner and then Fatima. It sure was tons of fun and very crowded. A sweatshirt alone was a bit too warm.

  3. Good morning and thank TK.

Picked up a wreath last night. People walking around in tee shirts. Very very strange with a strong smell of Christmas pine. Very eery.

  4. Thanks, TK.

Buds are popping up on some Red Maples out in our yard. If, if, we end up getting a rough winter the 2nd half of the winter, I hope the plants, trees, etc. will be ok.

Like so many people are saying – it’s weird outside. Doesn’t feel or look like late Fall.

I like the seasonal changes in New England. Even a brief snow flurry would satisfy me!:)

  5. Just looked at models, and I do not see any snow around these parts going into January, I thought maybe I would at least see some after Christmas, but even that has changed, and 50 degrees is very possible on Christmas Day along with New Year’s Day!!! We shall see. πŸ™‚

  8. Today’s 3rd AccuWeather Trivia post.

Of the following cities, which has the greatest probability of having a β€œWhite Christmas” (at least 1 inch of snow on the ground on December 25)?

    A. Las Vegas, NV
    B. Tuscon, AZ
    C. Birmingham, AL
    D. El Paso, TX

    Answer later today.

    1. This is a really tough one. I was going with A, but have reconsidered.

I think it is C., Birmingham, Alambama.

  9. Framingham is full of wild life. Who would a thunk. We not only have a coy wolf in our woods, son in law saw a coyote (pretty typical) and even more exciting recorded a male and female great horned owl calling to each other.

  10. Today’s 4th AccuWeather Trivia Quiz.

What is the 30 year average snowfall for Boston in December?

    A. 8”
    B. 9”
    C. 10”
    D. 11”

    Answer later today.

  11. We’ve had warmer late Autumn periods than this, and false budding. They will be fine. They recover each time that happens. Happened in a few instances last December, big time in 2011 and 2001 in recent times, and several times I can recall going back before that to my earlier days of observing.

In 1989, it did not happen. That was the coldest December on record but with virtually no snow as it was an extremely dry month.

  12. I wonder how many people will complain next Saturday and Sunday about how cold it is… πŸ˜‰

  13. I truly can’t imagine complaining about seasonable cold at this point. I don’t think I’m in the minority when I say that I look forward to later this week. So far it’s felt mostly like December in Atlanta, and besides Charlie who wants that on a daily basis. This is not the south. This is New England. While I agree with TK that the weather we’ve experienced is not unprecedented it’s unsettling to see flowering trees, buds popping open, and insects around. And here’s the really frustrating thing. We will likely have yet another late spring. So when we should be enjoying 50s and 60s it’ll be stuck in the 40s and raw (sort of like today).

    1. Funny you mention Atlanta. Every time I’ve spoken to my sister in law, which is several times a week, Atlanta weather has pretty much been a mirror of ours. Good comment, Joshua.

I will welcome some cooler weather.

Rivers are dropping a considerable amount again. No surprise

    2. You say that Joshua, and maybe on this weather blog, but out there, like away from the blog, most of you are the muniority. This is not a shot at you or anyone on here, I’m just saying. πŸ™‚

      1. But you always say that and you have a history of not really stating accurate data. I was telling my grandson the story of the boy who cried wolf. πŸ™‚

    1. We just finished up the year, hoping to be back out on properties in 8 weeks, or at the latest early March. πŸ™‚

  15. Barry said 9 days over 50 this month and we have a chance to reach 12

    Historically over 50 in December

    1953 16 days
    1891 15 days
    1881, 1990 14 days
    1973, 2006 13 days
    1923, 1932, 1982, 2011 12 days

    1. Surprising amount of those further in the past than I would have thought. I remember 2011 well obviously. 2001 had some very warm days but there were also a fair amount of colder days and no real sustained warmth.

      1. There are. Would love to know where Barry gets info. Not surprised to see no records from period I remember. However, I know they happened. I specifically remember christmas….help me here please TK…..1964??

    1. Used it a lot when discussing with Pats haters….discussing might be another word for blogging. Was amusing how fast they stopped responsing.

That said….we are in the middle and there is no excuse

  16. I have been away for a while. Taking care of some health issues. I will be back fully later in the week when I head back to work.

  17. Its still 11 days out, so, things can change ….

With that said, there is a signal for a very mild to warm Christmas Day in the eastern part of the US.
