  1. Good morning and thank you TK.

    Great day!

Beutiful weather and both of our teams won yesterday.

Exciting football game. 10 looked pretty good, save for that fumble.
I’d like to see what BB does with fumbles blount at the next practice.
I’d make him run around the perimeter of the field all day long holding onto a
football! NO freakin excuse for him coughing up the ball in that situation.
Damn near cost them the game.

Great missed field goal at the end of the game. My wife thought the game was over,
and she calls me Mr. negative. I told her it was 47 yards and definitely missable.
Well the bad snap sure didn’t hurt, but a miss it was!!!

    NICE!!!!

I absolutely LOVED the pass to Chris Hogan early in the game. A GEM!

Could the Pats go 4-0 during Tom’s absence? Certainly!!!

      1. That’s one way.

I think Bill should lodge a football up Blount’s you know what and make him practice that way.

        1. Blount had an ok game, but I still think he’s a LOAD and already runs like he has a whole bag of footballs lodged up there. He always runs into a wall and is only lucky to pick up a few yards here and there.

          1. I was screaming at the TV last night.

Give it to Blount, NO Gain!
Give it to Blount, NO GAIN!
            Desperate 3rd down pass

            Repeat!

            I was going craxy!@()&#*(&!@(*#&!(@&#

Let the KID throw the ball!!!!

  2. DAMN!!!! I forgot my glasses AGAIN!!!

I’ll pick them up at lunch, but in the meantime I’m flying blind, well so it seems.

      1. Ha Ha Ha…I don’t see where I typed that.
Even IF the Sox win the pennant and go on to win the World
Series, I am STILL NOT HAPPY with Farrell! So there ya go.
        😀

        1. I’m with you JpDave. When they do win, it’s in spite of him. I can point to a half dozen games he has had a major hand in them losing, but I can’t think of any games where he’s had a hand in them winning.

          1. AGREE 100%
They win IN SPITE of him.
They should be 6-8 games ahead instead
of just 2 due to his PISS_POOR_DECISIONS!!!

  3. Thanks TK !

Thank goodness for the cool, crisp early morning. Our building is so much better !!

Jets vs Bills Thursday night, so one of them will have to be 0 – 2.

Dolphins vs Pats. If Pats win, Dolphins would be 0 – 2. Pats would have a 2 game lead on 2 division foes.

    1. Amen to that. It was almost cold in the house this morning.

      AHHHHHHH!!!!!

      LOVE IT!!

      Finally can move without DYING!

  4. In defense of Blount, he had several excellent carries, including a 6 yard touchdown run (basically a bulldozer plowing into people and carrying them with him into the endzone), a conversion on 3rd and 4, and an outside run for 9 yards. Blount is not an outside runner, so that one surprised me.

Agree with Patriots’ game plan in using Blount as often as they did, as well as some of the trick plays with Edelman. JG managed the game well. But, I didn’t think he was as great as the Arizona defense was subpar, especially the secondary. I’d blame the Arizona coaches as much as the players. The touchdown pass to Hogan was inexcusable from Arizona’s perspective. That’s a high school play. And, if they don’t have the secondary personnel – as Collinsworth claimed – then shame on them. First priority as a contender is to build a balanced team, which should include some cornerbacks. Clearly, the Patriots have that mentality, while the Cardinals do not. Also, did I hear Collinsworth throw in a dig at the end of the game after the missed field goal – something like “teams [Cardinals] like to save a few pennies here and there [on the long snapper] but it’s not a good idea.” Well, you can add their kicker to the list. In today’s NFL with close games galore you need a reliable kicker who can drill the long ones. Their guy has never done it, and never will. Meanwhile, the Patriots have Gostowski. To me, yesterday’s game sums up why the Pats are head and shoulders above the others. Starts with a winning attitude in the front office and coaching staff and of course ends with the players on the field who always display teamwork (if they don’t, they’re out).

    1. I agree with ALL that you said, except about Blount.

Yes, he had an occasional nice run interspersed among those sucky ones for
little or no gain. And let us not to forget that deplorable fumble.

I’d give him a ‘C’ for his efforts.

      1. Fumbling is indeed a no-no with Bill. Ask Ridley among others. Surely, Jastremski and co. will find a way to `solve’ that problem. Kidding aside, the Patriots tend to have teams with excellent turnover ratios. I expect that to happen this year, too. Their secondary will have many interceptions this year, I predict. And, I think their special teams will force some fumbles along the way.

        1. Yes, Blunt will solve the fumble issue OR he will be gone.

BB always has a well discipline team and that counts
          for extra wins every season.

I loved the special teams play pinning the Cardinals
down at their own end after each kick off. Notice that
almost always, the Pats purposely did not kick it
into the end zone, daring the Cardinals to run it out.
We got them each and every time, sometimes holding
them down around the 10 year line.

          EXCELLENT special teams play. Outstanding.

    1. We shouldn’t have too much of a problem. Their WRs are good but if we could handle the Cardinals offense, we can handle them.

      1. We will have to face some good pass rushes. Dolphins have Wake, Suh. Bills have Rex Ryan as coach and recorded 9 QB hits on Flacco yesterday. Texans have Watt, of course. We were only average at stopping Chandler Jones and Calais Campbell yesterday. Hopefully it improves with Solder back.

        1. We’ll be fine.

We “could” easily go 4-0 in Tom’s absence and even
if we have a screw-up, I can’t see us any worse
than 3-1 and that wouldn’t be too shabby. 😀

              1. Hahaha, very true.

On that topic, I absolutely hate the CFLs, LED’s, halogens, etc. Before the government stopped allowing the sales regular incandesent lightbulbs, i stockpiled a few dozen of them and they;re still working. I have gone through less of them than people I know who switched to the aforementioned “better” light bulbs.

                1. I HATE CFLS. I REFUSE to use them after one burned out on us and smoked up the whole house. We thought the house was burning down!

I switched to LEDs. More expensive, but less hassle.

  5. I can’t resist chiming in on the Pats. Overall, as I said last night, a well played game. Jimmy G made two bad mistakes, the fumble and the delay of game penalty. But for a first career NFL start, I’d take that any day. He’s got promise.
I could do with less carries for Blount. His best attribute in the past has been ball control. That’s out the window now. He’s useful for near the goal line or short yardage, but I’d rather see more James White and less Blount until we hopefully get Dion Lewis back, especially if you have a long field.
As for the defense, a steady game I thought. Not great, but they kept us in it, and the strong first half to get our footing was key. Credit Arizona with a clean if unspectacular game on offense, and credit Larry Fitzgerald for being simply the best.
A couple big kicks as well from Gostkowski, which was good to see. He’s still got it.

    1. Agree with your assessment and happy that you agree with me re: Blount

For a 1st NFL start, QB10 was fantastic.

Garoppolo completed 24 of 33 passes for 264 yards with no interceptions.
I believe officially, he completed one to himself when it was deflected by
a defender and Garoppolo caught it. 😀

Not too shabby for his first start. Now let’s see what he can do next week. 😀

    2. Yes, Fitzgerald is the best in the business. Palmer can still throw, too. And David Johnson is a beast (RB – no. 31).

  6. Indeed Johnson was.

The Pat’s did well. No performance is perfect or at least a perfect performance is rare.
It was a well deserved very nice win. I’ll take it!

    1. It was so quintessentially Patriot, which is what I admire. Other teams have a Fitzgerald, a Beckham, a Peterson, etc … Megastars who sometimes place themselves above the team, or at least seek to be affirmed nationally as “the man.”

Besides Gronkowski there isn’t anyone on the Patriots who is a bigger than life figure, who seeks the limelight, who wants to be “the man.” I’d include TB in that characterization. He’s not Peyton Manning in terms of visibility, advertisements, and self-promotion. I am so glad TB isn’t like Peyton Manning. I’m so glad I generally don’t see Patriots doing silly advertising. Last night, the Tyrod Taylor commercial really challenged my brain – what the heck has he ever done to be the highlight of a national ad! He’s a nothing QB, in my opinion.

  7. Good assessments WxW and Joshua. Joshua to go along with your comment, when welker left NE he was among bradys top choices. In Denver he was someplace around seventh. That says a ton

  8. Work schedule has been all over the place for the past few days, which is why I haven’t been on here much. Back into my regular groove now, but we’re in a pretty boring pattern. I did write a new blog post about what’s going on with this next cold front, focusing mainly on the Plains and Rockies, but did throw in a paragraph about what it will (or won’t) do around here later this week.

For those of you that can read METARs, here’s a fun one for you. This is from Mobile, AL on this date in 1979 as Hurricane Frederic was making landfall:

    METAR KMOB 130400Z 09055G80KT 1/4SM +RA OVC002 23/23 A2854 RMK PRESFR PK WND 0884/42 SLPNO T02330233

    1. David & Frederic were memorable storms. I remember the remnants of one or both of those soaking us pretty good up here.

    1. Poor and Boston might not mix. If you send me a message on FB tomorrow, I’ll ask my son. I doubt there is anywhere he has not tried

  9. Tweet from Ed Vallee at Accuweather:

New UKMET GPC seasonal run is in. Shows colder than normal winter Midwest- Northeast, active storm track OH Valley.

    https://twitter.com/EdValleeWx

Should those Ohio Valley storms be tracking south of us or redeveloping off the mid Atlantic coast with the cold air in place, could imply a decent snow pattern for New England?

    1. my very early thoughts are that primary storm travels from the Pacific Northwest and Southwest moving east/Northeast across the Rockies and up into the Ohio valley and great lakes, with secondary storm formations start further south then general and are pushed out to sea before they get up here. It is way to early to even think about winter forecasts, still fun though 🙂

      1. An Ohio valley storm track coupled with a blocking high over eastern Canada could make things interesting around here but yeah, far too early to speculate on details. I also have no idea on how accurate the UKMET long range model has been.

  10. TK or SAK, any thoughts on the timing of the system approaching from the west over the weekend? Still planning on heading up to the White Mtns for hiking on Saturday but am getting a little concerned. Upper level flow is racing and the Euro wants to bring precip in as early as Sat PM now. Don’t want to get up to treeline at 5,000′ and be socked in clouds or even worse, rain or thunder. May have to leave at the crack of dawn!

  11. We might actually have a cold frontal passage during max heating tomorrow instead of the early morning passages that have occurred so often this summer.
