DAYS 1-5 (JULY 11-15)
Improving weather is in the cards for our region today and this weekend. This is not a fresh Canadian air mass we have moving in, rather it’s just an area of drier air aloft and still fairly humid conditions at the surface as a weak area of high pressure drifts southward just east of New England. Large-scale onshore air flow results, easterly at first then shifting more southerly with the migration of the high pressure area. This will result in a slow warm-up, but no high heat. Additionally, residual moisture in the region can lead to pop up showers and thunderstorms mainly west of I-495 both today and Saturday. Cannot rule out an isolated severe storm if a cells is organized enough. Such activity should be absent Sunday. It’s Monday when our next chance of more widespread showers and thunderstorms occurs, in response to a cold front moving in from the west, with warm, humid southerly air flow ahead of it. Right now, timing looks later-day / evening for this activity, but will monitor for changes in timing. The front may be a little slow to cross the region completely, resulting in additional shower chances for southeastern areas into part of Tuesday, with those details to be determined.
TODAY: Cloudy start with areas of fog. Clouds break for sun at times midday on but a pop up shower possible west of I-495, mainly hills of central MA and southwestern NH. Highs 71-78 coastal plain, 78-85 inland. Dew point 60+. Wind E up to 10 MPH.
TONIGHT: Low clouds become widespread. Areas of fog. Lows 62-69. Dew point 60+. Wind E under 10 MPH.
SATURDAY: Low clouds and areas of fog dominate at first, then becoming partly sunny. Highs 73-80 coastal plain, 80-87 inland. Dew point 65+. Wind E to SE up to 10 MPH.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Low clouds and areas of fog return. Lows 62-69. Dew point 60+. Wind SE under 10 MPH.
SUNDAY: Partly cloudy. Highs 75-82 coast, 82-89 inland. Dew point 65+. Wind SE to S up to 10 MPH.
SUNDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Patchy fog. Lows 65-72. Dew point 65+. Wind S up to 10 MPH.
MONDAY: Partly sunny. Chance of showers and thunderstorms later in the afternoon. Highs 82-90. Dew point 65+. Wind S 5-15 MPH.
MONDAY NIGHT: Variably cloudy. Areas of fog. Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Lows 66-73. Dew point 65+. Wind S to variable up to 10 MPH.
TUESDAY: Partly sunny. Additional showers possible RI and southeastern MA. Highs 82-89. Dew point 60+. Wind variable to W up to 10 MPH.
DAYS 6-10 (JULY 16-20)
High pressure dominates with fair, warm to hot weather middle of next week. Watching for next frontal system with shower and thunderstorm threat for about July 18 with fair, warm weather returning late period.
DAYS 11-15 (JULY 21-25)
Pattern shift allows high pressure to build just to west and nearby with an overall warmer to hotter pattern. A west to northwest flow aloft can deliver passing showers and storms as disturbances move through the flow.
Good morning and thank you TK
Thanks Tk
Thank you, TK.
Good morning, thanks TK. <3
Went for a 7 mile run this morning and all the little rivers in the trails were absolutely rushing with water. One place I saw on twitter, mrs mecklers mercantile, had her entire driveway obliterated by the overflow:

Thanks TK !
Thanks TK
Thank you, TK. My thoughts are with you and your mom and your family today. ❤️
Red sox have won 7 in a row and 9 out of last 10. Three more games with Tampa before the All-Star break.
They have 3 very tough series in a row after the break. One thing they will need to do is clean up their error rate. Whether it’s most errors or most per game in the AL or most throwing errors, they are among the leaders. Lately they have improved a little.
There are other issues but the Sox are playing much better ball recently.
This cloud seeding nonsense still continues.
From Tony Pann
And since I have had extra coffee this morning, another rant: I don’t even know what to say to people anymore about this weather modification stuff. If a meteorologist tells you it’s not real, you won’t believe it. But if you see a random post from someone with no science background about “radiated lasers” shooting into storms… And yes cloud seeding has been going on for many years. With some success. But there are not enough cloud seeds in the world to create a flood like the one in Texas.
One thing to say….
There is an old saying that applies here.
YOU CAN’T FIX STUPID
“But there are not enough cloud seeds in the WORLD to create a flood like the one in Texas.”
Ha – undeniable proof of extraterrestrial alien intervention!
🙂
Ha ha ha
Perhaps a little bit of Hunga Tonga at play?
Hmmmmm. I’ll ask about that again. So far the Mets I’ve asked are not on that page. But things change
More and more evidence. I’ve seen a couple recent papers that emphasize it, which I need to find and share. That effect can last up to a decade. The science is right there to explain it.
I’d love to see them when you have a chance. Absolutely no hurry.
You think there enough cloud seeds to give trump a brain?
Or does he need to see the wizard?
🙂 🙂 🙂
Hahahahaha. Love it.
Early report from my brother today…
Mom up in wheel chair, more alert, bit more energy. Ate her lunch – all of it.
That last part is a good sign. 🙂
Very positive news. Thank you!!
Excellent news!!
Good day !!
Awesome
Lonnie Quinn on CBS Evening News Tuesday night during the weather segment mentioned about Honga Tonga and how that is creating more humidity since it erupted a couple years ago. He used an example of how an Olympic swimming pool feels and when Honga Tonga erupted putting that into the atmosphere.
Interesting. Thank you, JimmyJames. I read a lot about it at the start but then got away from it.
Yes, thanks Jimmy. One has to wonder if yesterday’s flash flood on the South Shore could be connected, even in a minuscule way.
Of course, not to mention Texas.
Honga tonga erupted two years ago. We might have seven years left of it’s impacts.
Just got back from the center to get a hair cut.
Is it ever HUMID!!!
Current temperature 79.3 with dew Point 70!!!
Is there really a front or has it or will it WASH OUT.
70 dp on this side and 75 dp on the other. Not much difference!!!
I’m with you. It remains very humid.
I did run outside today but was in a daze afterward.
Two more weeks until I return to England. Hopefully, their unusually warm/hot summer thus far will have ended by then. Even if it hasn’t, humidity levels and heat, too, generally aren’t as high as here.
When I arrive there in late July it’ll probably feel like September here. I’ve been there the last 4 Augusts in a row: 2 felt like October here and 2 like September, None of the 4 felt even remotely as warm/hot or humid as here.
Thank you TK!
Happy Friday to the WHW clan!
Prayers continue for your mom TK, as well as you and your family.
Thanks, TK.
Happy to hear that your Mom was eating well this afternoon and had a bit more energy. That’s a good sign. When bodies truly shut down, they don’t want to eat at all.
I’ve been out this pm so just looked quickly for HTHH. I don’t use sources that are further than center bias or lean left or lean right of center and so far have not found one in that range for causing more rainfall. I am reading that HTHH cooled rather than warmed the earth …especially the southern hemisphere
There was an initial burst of warming, followed by cooling in the S HEM most notably. The latter was somewhat unexpected. Previously, and still, I say we will be learning for many years to come about the significant effects of HT. History shows an eruption that massive is never going to have negligible effect, which is why I disagreed (and still disagree) with anybody who just dismissed it. Patience is needed because the impacts from this event can last up to a decade (perhaps even longer). We’re only 3 1/2 years in. I’m very curious to see what else we can learn about our atmosphere from this epic event. 🙂
Exactly what I read. And yes I’d love to see more as time goes by.
Other than some discomfort, Mom was doing a tiny bit better today. She has several visitors now. I was there with my son a bit ago, but we left to make room for her fan club. 😉
Good news Tk
Smiling here. Your mom is an amazing lady.
Heavy thundering on our door step. It sounds nasty but no warnings or watches issued.
Lots of thunder here too and ominous clouds to the North, I’d say over Townsend.
Yikes. Blue sky with thin cloud layers here. Be safe and enjoy
And there is the severe storm warning.
I just looked at the radar. That’s quite a little party you have going on up that way
Mike W just reported that he’s seeing broad rotation with the cell that’s over Groton MA.
We got 1/2″ of rain in about 8 minutes.
Wow.
Prayers for your mom’s comfort TK!
Red Sox won yet another one run game tonight 5-4! 🙂
Local radio talk show hosts still waiting for them to drop out. I can’t stand listening to them for more than 5-10 minutes these days.
8 straight! 🙂
Don’t let them influence you! I don’t listen to those guys, at all. Doom, gloom, negativity. Go Sox!
Would be a playoff team right now.
Yup, put themselves a half game up and in a wild card spot. half a season to go.
When your close to a wild card spot one hot streak puts you right in a playoff spot. Tough schedule after the All Star Break. For my team all of a sudden now that they have won five in a row no more talk from fans calling into WFAN FIRE Aaron Boone. The team has won five in a row after a six game losing streak and just two back of Toronto.
New post…
