DAYS 1-5 (OCTOBER 2-6)
High pressure dominates our weather through the next 5 days with dry conditions. The changes will come in the temperature department. Today, we’re still cool with an active breeze for a while between high pressure still to our north and far-offshore tropical activity. Tonight, the high center crests overhead, setting up strong radiational cooling. The daily temperature trend is up as the high pressure area settles to our south Friday through Monday, but even as temperatures go above normal, we’ll fall shy of any record highs in the region. The fair weather is great for outdoor activities, but is not-so-great for keeping drought at bay. Look for an expansion of drought conditions across the region once again, as well as increased fire danger in the days ahead.
TODAY: Sunny. Highs 58-65. Wind NE 5-15 MPH, higher gusts, diminishing during the afternoon.
TONIGHT: Clear. Patchy low elevation fog. Lows 38-45. Wind calm.
FRIDAY: Sunny. Highs 65-72. Wind variable under 10 MPH then SW up to 10 MPH.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Clear. Lows 51-58. Wind SW up to 10 MPH.
SATURDAY: Sunny. Highs 72-79, coolest South Coast. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Clear. Lows 53-60. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
SUNDAY: Sunny. Highs 75-82 though a little cooler South Coast / Cape Cod. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
SUNDAY NIGHT: Clear. Lows 55-62. Wind SW up to 10 MPH.
MONDAY: Sunny. Highs 76-83, again a little cooler South Coast / Cape Cod. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
DAYS 6-10 (OCTOBER 7-11)
Warm weather continues October 7, but watching for a frontal system from the west to bring a round of showers sometime between late that day into October 8, followed by the return to fair weather but with cooler conditions mid to late next week.
DAYS 11-15 (OCTOBER 12-16)
A zonal flow (generally west to east) pattern with some up and down temps and only a brief shower threat (~October 13). Early-period warm-up, then cooling back to seasonable levels.
Thank you TK.
Need a good forecast for the Bronx in a couple of ways!
Thanks TK !
Thank you, TK.
40/38 now. Was also our low.
Brrrrrrrrrrr
I know. Not the coldest but I do love it

Bermuda’s ob’s pressure bottomed out at 977 mb
Imelda certainly was an interesting “hurricane” on approach to Bermuda.
The recon plane showed the strongest flight level winds in the southern semi-circle of the system.
the strongest wind gust the airport experienced was 56 mph. To be sure, they had many hours of strong sustained winds just into the tropical storm force category.
Some interesting interactions btwn relatively cool surface air encroaching on the north of the system and jet stream interactions.

Good morning and thank you TK.
48 here this morning
Ocean temperature. 62
Good luck Sox today
Wordle: 4
Early is a decent pitcher, but young and inexperienced. Here’s hoping he comes through for the Sox this evening.
I think Cora was magnificent again last night with his use of the bullpen, after Bello couldn’t get through 3.
Cora was desperately trying to win last night’s game and I think he knew he has a rookie starter, in Yankee stadium in game 3. Its too bad they didn’t get last night’s game.
Of course, catching a catchable ball to left and being able to put down a bunt with 2 on and none out in the 7th, I think if those were executed, we’d be previewing Sox-Jays.
Very nice. I’m stuck after 4 so put it aside for a bit
The avg high temp for Logan this weekend is 66F, so we’ll be a good 10-15F above average.
Thanks, TK.
Thanks TK
First pitch 808 tonight.
What channel? I heard it was not on ESPN
Looked it up. My info says it IS on ESPN. So, I guess I am all set, IF I decide to watch any of it. If not, will be staying up to date with the scores. 🙂
The Drought Monitor has been updated for the week:
https://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/CurrentMap.aspx
Thank you. Lots of low levels on wet areas around here.
I got Worde in four today. After the second guess I had just one letter. At least it was in the correct place.
Oh boy – “Wordle” 🙂
I’m still stuck after four and I have three lettered with one in the correct place. For the first time in five years I’m about to give up.
Today’s word, although very common, again didn’t lend itself
to typical starting words. I had to get creative to reveal some letters. Had 2 in the correct location after 2 guesses, but I needed one more letter. Used a throw away word to find another letter which was not in the correct position, but gave away the correct position just the same. Then finally the word came to me for the 4th guess.
Looks like 4 is good for today. 🙂
To me 4 is excellent. I finally got it in 6. And it isn’t hard word. I just made it more difficult than it needed to be
https://www.tropicaltidbits.com/analysis/models/?model=cansips®ion=namer&pkg=T2ma&runtime=2025100100&fh=3 CANSIPS still showing a rather decent cool pattern for the northern plains to the northeast.
Thanks Tk , glad to see everything back up & running smoothly. Have a good day everyone.
Thanks, TK!
40 was our overnight low.
Three consecutive, deciding Game 3s today in Wild Card games starting at 3 pm with the Tigers-Guardians!
It’s a banner day. My grandson is enjoying it for different reasons. It’s quite a swiftie day also
Mark, I just sent you an email
Got it, thanks Vicki.
55/42 at noon. 🙂

Visible satellite can definitely see the changing seasons, as the northern landscapes don’t look green anymore.

Not that anything was expected to develop in the Atlantic, but most of the Atlantic is scoured out of tropical air, as you can tell by the instability clouds across the whole basin.
If anything is to develop, the Atlantic will need several days for the tropical humidity to re-establish itself before anything has a chance.
the dp in Bermuda is down to an incredibly low 64F.
Its been running 75F to 80F for the last 3 months, as it usually does.
It must feel like a different world to the folks down there, today.
Thank you, TK.
I wish the media and fans would be kinder towards Jarren Duran. He’s been through a lot mentally. We know about his struggles. He owned up to his mistakes yesterday. Ultimately, it’s JUST A GAME. Man, are some in the media and fans taking this all too seriously.
I wish everyone would be more kind everywhere but then that’s Boston. The word fan is a difficult concept. Very sad
Well, that’s awful !
I think its ok to say, he needed to catch that.
But that’s the line.
I haven’t seen anything, but I’m only reading ESPN. I am sure on twitter and the such, where fans can comment, the comments are over the top and inappropriate and lack perspective.
We just hit 60 for the first time today. DP is 40
I noticed an issue with weather.gov formatting earlier. It did say it would stay open during shutdown. I hadn’t thought of this impacting noaa/nws
Not great news for an already “bare bones” Nws as stated here. But some positive news.

My Weekend Outlook is up: https://stormhq.blog/2025/10/02/weekend-outlook-october-3-6-2025/
Thanks!
As I stated yesterday, CPC has been backing off the “warm” pattern beyond this upcoming warm-up. They have now removed the “above normal” from their 6-10 day outlook and replaced it with “near normal”. No surprise there.
Yay Today is glorious.
We have a high of 61
Quite nice today, yes!
Even the “warm-up” days will be pretty nice too with generally low dew points other than Sunday which will have a “borderline humid” dew point approaching 60.
Awesome news

Heading to Mansfield for a concert this evening. Will need a hooded sweatshirt!
Thanks TK! In looking at my hurricane tracking map there is only one system that has been in the Gulf this year. All other system in the Atlantic. That seems rather rare to me. I know the season is far from over.
The conditions have been crap in the Gulf of Mexico.
All these social media posts about how warm the water is and how many huge storms are going to occur because of it. It’s bullcrap. I say it all the time. SAK says it all the time. You can have the warmest water in history and you’ll get zippo for storms if the conditions are not favorable. It’s more than just water temps.
Yes, it’s unusual. We’ve had some strong hurricanes, but overall we’re having a rather quiet season. ACE is quite a bit below normal not only for this basin, but globally as well.
Although the Pacific has been more active recently…
Today was an amazing weather day. The high was 61 after a low of 40.
It’s currently 59 with a DP of 39.
About the same here. I dug out my flannel sweats.
Wooo hooo
45/41 at 8:30. Might just start the fireplace
43 now. May get into the 30s for the second time this season
40 at 12:30 We may likely set a new low
Well, the Red Sox certainly hit a new low. They are now the first team in MLB to win the first game but not move on to the Divisional Series.
Not a very useful stat since it’s for a “best of 3”, which started in 2022.
They were just beaten by a team that played better.
They played better in game 1. The Yankees played better in 2 and 3. It’s that simple. This would be the SAME result of the Sox had won game 2 but still lost game 3. Some stats are basically meaningless. This one is.
They took us to the playoffs.
Now it’s on to the Patriots! Can’t be any worse. 😉
They are playing Buffalo. Think about it.
Wow you’re a pillar of optimism………………..
New post…
